         <description><![CDATA[<div>Explanation Video - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l8vRpJY3Eqzfvb-lZwt10gdWCPPO5OhU/view?usp=drivesdk<br><br><strong>Classroom Activities<br></strong>- Say a word aloud to students and have them repeat it and then stretch it out and say each sound in the word. <br>- Say a word and have students repeat the word and then change part of the word (the beginning, middle, or end) and say the new word it creates (Reading Rockets, 2022).<br><br><strong>At Home Activity</strong><br>Parent has a word in mind (CHUG) and they clap out each sound CH-U-G and then teh kid repeats teh sounds while clapping them out and blends them to says CHUG<br><br><strong>Website Resource:</strong><br>https://heggerty.org/parents/<br><br>This website and the activity will inform parents about phonemic awareness and its importance. It also gives them easy at home activities to do.&nbsp; Practicing phonemic awareness will only help strengthen that foundation that other skills are built on which mean those other skills may come easier.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

Pick a word (shells) and then give the students clues to which word you are thinking of. For example, this word has a bonus letter and a suffix. Have the students write down the word they think it is and call on students to say their guess. <br><br><strong>At Home Activity</strong><br>Color W.S. - color all the pictures that start with the A sound green, color all the letters that start with the B sound blue&nbsp; <br><br><br><strong>Website Resource:</strong>&nbsp;<br>https://www.rasmussen.edu/degrees/education/blog/phonics-activities-for-preschoolers/<br><br>This website and the activities teaches parents games that incorporate phonics that makes learning fn and engaging for younger children at home.&nbsp; Any extra practice at home, no matter teh skill or age, is great for children because it helps them with their writing and reading and it allows them to memorize letters and sounds.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Video Explanation - <br>https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FbHDaYdWZKLwskagQF0l2vxsTwoHs5Ig/view?usp=drivesdk<br><br><strong>Classroom Activities</strong><br>- For each story that is read out loud, go through vocab words that will come up in the story and talk about their definition. Model it or give an example of what it is.&nbsp; <br><br>- After going over the vocabulary words in a text pass out one card to each student. Each student will either receive a term or a definition and they need to find their other match. If you have a term, you need to find a definition and vice versa. <br><br><strong>At Home Activity</strong><br>Write down any word that the child reads that they are unfamiliar with.
