Raphael was well known for his use of the Madonna in different paintings. Arguably, his most famous Madonna painting is the "Sistine Madonna". Another one of his most famous paintings is the "School of Athens", which was painted between 1509, and 1511. His style of painting was mostly frescoes, which were basically murals.
Picture Below: "Sistine Madonna"

Raphael was not only a skilled painter, but architect too. Probably one of his biggest accomplishments is the, St. Peter's Basilica, in Vatican City. Pope Leo X, decided to have Raphael, who had not really worked on any big buildings, over a well-known, famous Italian architect, named Donato Bramante. The St. Peter's Basilica, in Vatican City is still standing today, and is a popular tourist attraction.
Picture Below: St. Peter's Basilica

Principle of Classicalism

Raphael worked on the structure, St. Peter's Basilica, in Vatican City. This structure represents the renaissance principle of classicalism. Classicalism is a principle that follows Roman or Greek principles in literature and art. St. Peter's Basilica represents classicalism because it shared similar aspects with that of basic Greek and Roman architecture. One example is the St. Peter's Basilica had a dome, just like Greek and Roman architecture commonly had. They also both had similar columns, which were originally a greek aspect. Lastly, the St. Peter's Basilica and the architecture of Rome and Greece were similar because they had statues on the structures of different people.
Picture Below: St. Peter's Basilica

"Portrait of a Young Man" is a painting by Raphael, that represents secularism. Secularism is the principle of separation from religion. This picture depicts a young man sitting down, and nothing to do with religion. Since there is no religious symbols or anything in this painting, this represents secularism, because this painting is separate from religion.
Picture Below: "Portrait of a Young Man"
