In the story, Pi believes in 3 religions which are Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam. He developed a very strong virtue because of it. When Pi is on the lifeboat he is forced to leave his soft, kind self in order to survive. During his journey, Pi uses his virtue in order to survive. He trusts to keep his faith in God, but it's extremely hard as he has to eat meat and abandon his faith at certain times which upsets him. "Faith in God is an opening up, a letting go, a deep trust, a free act of love—but sometimes it was so hard to love" (209).
