They also had to pay families if they had a member in their family who died in the military. <br>During peacetime, the cost that the people had to pay off was the $300 billion that the government payed for the war.          <description><![CDATA[<div>There were no constitutionality challenges to War Bonds because it was a voluntary program. There was probably a bit of peer pressure that came with war bonds because of lot of people did invest. There was no punishment by the government so, it didn't inflict on anybody's constitutional rights.</div>]]></description>
