I think the events Rothman mentioned in our history or our country is violence. A way we can move past denial is by people speaking more of it and actually showing what's wrong. A word that stands out to me is white supremacists it is used as white people thinking they are in power and murder people of color. They have been happening for well over a century. I never knew about this before, I thought "Wow, that's crazy, I would've never thought that people would actually do that." Now I see that people will do that and I still think it's insane that this has been a reoccurring issue in the U.S. for such a long time. I don't think that some people can or will move past the denial that things like this are apart of America. Some people choose to ignore facts like these and it is really unfortunate because it reduces the rate at which this country is changing and stops the progress that protestors and activists fight so hard for.

It’s shameful to think that other countries currently see us as rioters who use force and violence and put others in danger because we don’t agree with something. But the worse part is that people in this country think it’s okay to behave in that way. We can observe in this article that this is nothing new to this country. The article mentions that in 1898 white supremacist did a coup to overthrow the government of Wilmington and North Carolina. They didn't just overthrow the government but they murdered black people and destroyed neighborhoods that belonged to black people. This event is an example of how white people riot without peace. There are many more events like these that include white people killing or putting black people in danger. I think these kinds of events should open up our eyes to see how racist and unfair our country is. This also shows us what white privilege looks like. People who believe they can get away with anything just because their skin color is white. History just keeps repeating itself. White privilege can be seen throughout history and I think it's time we stand up and do more to create change. This country is full of different races and we all deserve equal opportunities. This has always been America, the white privilege and violence has become more and more clear to people around the world. Nothing has changed in America, and the abuse of power has only grown creating even more white supremacists. People in power are meant to lead us to a greater future yet abuse their power to enforce said dangers. It is very frustrating and terrible to watch people lose their lives over situations that could have been avoided if America was what it was meant to be. A place of freedom and equality, but it has not been that for a very long time now. By us Making disaster and threatening a president like Joe Biden getting threatened by trump supporters a few weeks ago. What I think is everyone should listen and just think positively sometimes it makes me wonder why riots and bad people get out of making bad things and rioting. What I don't understand is why there is so much negativity in the world why do people don't follow rules, why do racisms exist, why do people kill each other, why do people suicide, why do people take narcotics. All this just doesn't make sense I really makes me think that our home what we call America is changing every minute and every year it just doesn't make sense. Like kids or adults have been killed by other races and those kids and adults don't deserve that just by their skin color I think everyone should be treated equally. speech in the United States are only legitimate when exercised by white people and on behalf of white people." White privilege is such a joke and the events that happened at the Capitol just shows how far these people will go just to say that they don't want change. For super officials to say "this is not America" is a lie and they cannot own up to being apart of encouraging this type of violence by turning a blind eye due to someones race. Injustice is America. Shown everywhere on television and more people are standing up telling us how messed up our government is. Racism, sexism will never leave our country in my personal opinion, there will always be people going out of their way to make another persons life something to fear. This is something out world can;t get passed, especially with the encouragement of our previous president. Honestly, we can only hope that people will see what kind of impact that are making and change.
