주인공의 학교에서 도난 사건이 일어난 것이다! 물건을 뺏긴 아이는 매우 화가났고, 학교는 난리가 났다. 어느정도냐면, 친구들과의 대화 주제 중 대부분이 그 도난 사건에 대한 것이었다. 또, 교사들도 난리가 났다.

이렇게까지 풍비백산이 난 이유는 이미 전에 한번 도난 사건이 일어났었고, 그 결말이 매우 끔찍했기 때문이다.

과거 도난 사건 때에 일어난 결말은 한 학생의 자살이었다. 자살한 학생은 물건을 훔친 학생이었다. 자살한 이유는 물건을 훔친 것에 대한 학교나 주변인들의 압박 때문이었다. 걸릴 바에 죽겠다는 생각이었던 것이다.

그래서 교사들이든 학생이든 다들 난리가 났던 것이다. 이는 주인공과 주인공 친구들도 마찬가지였다.

근데 이때, 무서운 의뢰가 하나 들어온다. 그것은 물건을 훔친 아이가 한 의뢰였다. 의뢰 내용은 바로 자신이 훔친 물건을 원래 아이에게 아무도 모르게 되돌려달라는 것이었다.

사건의 전말은 이렇다. 물건을 훔친 친구는 사건이 이렇게까지 커질 줄 몰랐다. 그래서 그런 학교 상황에 큰 압박감을 느꼈다. 그리고 마침

이 친구는 자신의 학교에 다니는 학생인 주인공이 '시간을 파는 상점'을 운영한다는 걸 알고 있었다. 그리고 이 친구는 도움을 구할 데가 없디. 그래서 결국 시간을 파는 상점에 의뢰하게 된 것이다. 시간을 파는 상점은 익명으로 의뢰할 수 있는 것도 당연히 한 몫 했다.

그리고 선했다. 또한, 이전 사건을 트라우마로 가지고 있었다. 그래서 다시는 같은 비극이 일어나지 않았으면 하는 마음으로 의뢰를 받아들인다. 자신이 원래 자리로 훔친 물건을 돌려 놓으면 그런 비극을 막을 수 있을 거라 생각한 것이다.
