I screenshot this picture before the assignment was even assigned. It really tore my heart seeing what is going on our planet and places I wanted to visit in the future. The number of animals that are dying is way to crazy to imagine. The people that never got to go back to their family's and loved ones. How much land that burned up in ashes and will take years to ever grow back. I don't have money to donate nor fly and give a helping hand. But i hope one day in the future I'll have enough to go and help the earth replenish itself again.

Reflect-
a:This week we went to international peer mentor program, we got to learn a lot of new things about a international student we got paired up with.
b: I learned a lot about my new partner first of all that really amazed me was her drawing skills they were out of this world she showed us her drawing and they were perfect. Second I learned that she lived in China before coming to Spokane for school, over there school started as early as 5:30 am and could end as late as 9pm. The only brakes they got was 10 minutes I was mind blown. She also was very shy but it was understandable, I usually am too with people I don't really know. But also it was my job to get to know her and more about nationality.
c:What I learned about myself is that when I have a task to do i want to do a little bit more then what is assigned but sometimes there is obstacles standing in the way. For example i really want to go somewhere where she hasn't been before and maybe show her more of Spokane. My obstacle would be that isn't a big social person and prefers playing video games with her friends. Maybe couple weeks go by and I can see if she would like to go for some Mochi or something like that because she also said she liked them when we were talking about foods we like and it is also a food I'm very obsessed at this very moment.
d: One skill I found (I don't exactly know if this a skill) but asking questions, it really helps me to get to know her more. I'm not sure if I had any big struggles that I can think of but maybe getting her to talk more.

Red envelope is when family members put money in a red envelope and give it to another family member. Now that technology took over one kid said that some people just send money over paypal or cash apps.
c: What I learned about myself was when I'm tired I talk a bit less then days I'm not tired.
d: What I found valuable is that talking about your cultural background and comparing it with other cultures is a good conversation starter.

The movies were international, some people have seen some have not.
b: I learned this week that not that much people have seen Forest Gump. Well being honest the first time I watched it was last year but people make it seem like I was the only one who hasn't before I seen it. But still it was the most viewed movie out of all that were showed.
c:What I learned about myself was that I like to have my opinion on things. For example I like to keep my own opinion on a movie character and how I feel about them.
d:What I struggle with raising my hand and speaking out loud more. I guess the fact I'm scared in a way to be wrong, even though I know it is okay to be wrong. How you said in class we learn by being wrong. The only way we get better at things is by failing.

A big percentage of obesity and drug addiction happen because of childhood traumas. People who have been raped before feel like gaining weight will make them look ugly and it will not happen to them again. People with addictions come from parents that neglect and/or abuse their kids. The kid would want to look for something that can give them that help or sensation of love and some wonder how it is like because their parents did it why cant they. Addiction is all in your head. You can't forget the hurt you felt before so you cover it up with food or drugs. Drugs numb the pain and over eating helps you do something just to not think about a memories that have happened like "mmm this is good" is a better thought then remembering how you were treated. You may not agree that it is all in your head but if we burn ourselves a single goes to our brain that it hurts. If we had no brain how would we collect memories. Addiction comes from horrible memories you want to run away from.

1. Think about class discussions and materials we have read/viewed.
My art would be a strong picture that you can look at and feel a bit different after you walk away. Maybe a quotes that speaks to the soul when you read it. But so the quote takes up the two perspectives, so it doesn't cause a disagreement but peace within a human being.

2. Find images, quotes, words, colors, etc. that represent individuals who fall under the umbrella term of “homeless.”
I found a quote on a cardboard and it said " I always wondered somebody did'nt do something about that, then I realized I am somebody."

I have had different views on "homelessness" or "poor people" because of different people giving me their opinions and they are people I look up to. Some say that they are just lazy people that don't want a job and homelessness is just their life style now. Others say how they feel so bad for them because maybe what they went through. I don't disagree with either. I don't know a persons past so I may not judge them on how they look. I totally understand where both people are coming from some people that are on the streets have been on the streets since a child and they don't know different.Maybe they lost everything because of a family member there is so much things that could have happened we don't even know. But also that where the other opinion comes in is why can't they try to change something maybe even if its very little. Little by little still that is change. There is so much alternatives in the US which is crazy. If they had what we have in other places of the Earth that actually needs and wants that help can go so far. I believe a person can change their environment around them if they strive for it. I guess I do lean more on the "negative" side but I have seen a lot of people that "want change" but don't do nothing to change it. How I may have said before it is all in the mindset and what you do to solve your issues.

Marshal Islands Padlet reflection

After reading the article it is sad that people living in their home land get pushed out because of nuclear wars they used to have, it is killing their livestock making their pigs smaller and they have very poor health like birth defects and higher risks of cancer. U.S. used their mother land for nuclear tests. Land they grew up and story's from their ancestors were probably told but because war is so important and people are so head turnt on that crap they are killing innocent people and hurting their future kids and food slowly over the years. Because of all those horrible events Marshallese people have to immigrate, and find new places to live a lot are moving to Spokane but how that one women said "they feel"like ghosts".Not a lot of people know about Marshel people, and I feel like more awareness should be out there. Maybe they need to speak out more like for example someone who is Marshallese, and lived their can come and talk at different schools and give life story's or how it was to live there. More awareness can be spread and maybe some people would want to give a helping hand and help Marshallese people less "like ghosts".

Week 11 journal entry kindness

Reflect:
How did I feel when I received an act of kindness-
It feels really good and it really brightens your day. I can wake up on the bad side of the bed but even a simple smile will make me smile back because how could you not.

How did you feel when you gave an act of kindness-
Right after I got off of school I went to dollar tree and bought some Easter candy. I went to the Shadle park and gave candy to the homeless. It made me feel good to give I bet it brightened their day. I thought giving them something that had an Easter meaning was a good idea because maybe they don't have family to celebrate Easter with. I want to do it again but in a different place and maybe closer to Easter.
I know the 25 kindness ideas are just ideas but some of them is just an everyday thing I do without noticing. I want to look into more ideas that can make a little bit more impact in the world:)

Connect:
-A small act of kindness can better our community because for example when someone does a good deed for me I want others to feel how special I felt. How I heard of kindness being used it like a snowball rolling down a hill I do a deed the next person might want to do the same and so it goes on brightening more and more peoples lives. The snowball of kindness gets bigger and bigger when kindness is shared.

-Where I see myself making small changes of kindness is mostly everywhere I go. My school, stores, at my house and more. A smile does not cost anything but goes a long way. It feels weird when people don't smile back at you maybe they need a little bit more then a smile to change their day.
