Also they helped keep peace, and keep one state or more from over ruling another state. These kept America sane, and calm. I created a nation of 13 states, but they weren't held together very close. I was created purposely for a weak central government. The congress was a small room of men with one delegate from each "state". Congress couldn't levy taxes, or get states to pay federal taxes, so they couldn't pay back the countries they borrowed money from. These led to huge economic debts, and so they started to tax farmers. This led to the uprising called Shays Rebellion. But thats another story, and we're only focusing on me. To change me, congress needed consent from everyone, but not everyone wanted to change me. This eventually came as too much of an issue for the United States.
