This blog explains how the momo scandal began. momo is featured as a woman with dark hair, pale skin and oversized eyes. Its’s a myth that is continuing to be some kind of reality. She will send you threats to harm yourself, she sends you disturbing images and tells you “I know where you live, if you don’t do what I say then I well kill your family.” The story was circulating when reports came in that two kids harmed themselves in northern Colombia in September after receiving messages. Many kids were scared, they put out a warning about momo but kids are still going to school saying “momo knows where you live, if don’t think it’s going to kill your family” and one boy went home crying telling his mom what happened.

The police posted to Facebook warning parents about momo. The Police talks about how the game begins. It starts asking users to add momo as a contact, youth or young adult then momo messages you and tells you how to harm yourself or just to commit suicide. Momo contact uses bullying by threatening or sending violent images. Police then added reminders to parents to be aware of what’s on in social media, such as YouTube being a big one. Also, the police added some tips to make sure everyone's safe one being, blocking anyone you don’t know, flag any pictures that are hard to see and limiting the time a child is allowed online.

What happens when you messenge Momo.

This is an example of what happens when you message momo. First It starts off with asking “are you ready for the challenge”. The person would say “yes”. The next message momo would send is “I will give you a task every day”. The person that is messaging momo said “No problem”. Momo would say “I am warning you! That when you start the challenge. It’s prohibited to back out…”. The person asked momo for a favor. Momo said, “yes what is that”. In the end, she asked momo to borrow money. Momo’s message said, “the challenge is canceled bye.” This post was funny but some messages can go a different way. I found this post and I thought it would be better than some of the messages that go opposite.
