Queer pleasure & desire

Queer pleasure and desire is different for everyone, the point of desire is it is what you most want in the world whether that be something physical or not it doesn't matter as long as it is something you want. Queer pleasure is something that has always been sexualized and demonized in the media and because of this queer people believe that pleasure isn't a good thing or something that should be wanted. Because we live in a heteronormative society the security of straight white cis men is the priority so in reality the only people suffering are queer people. Women are still subject to the lack of desire and pleasure, straight women are still subject to this oppression because they're women and even more so if they're not white. Pleasure can be anything someone deems intimate and feels good, personal success can be pleasurable and that especially can be seen as dangerous for men in power which is main reason why pleasure is suppressed by men in all spaces.

The Erotic

Eroticism is the qualities that make someone or something erotic. We're taught that only physical things can be erotic, unfortunately many of us are taught that women's bodies are inherently erotic when they're not. The thought of being successful or even taking control of a situation can be erotic for many people. Some women often take pleasure in being in control of a situation or even being in charge of a room of people can be very pleasurable. The reason for this is because some men have an expectation of women to be submissive to them and push this on them in relationships and so some women look for pleasure in other ways like social interactions.

Queer pleasure

As stated before, queer eroticism and pleasure is demonized in our society. This happens because cishet white men are threatened by what they cannot understand and queer people existing much less experiencing pleasure is not something they choose to want to try to understand. Queer pleasure is still pleasure like people experiences however there isn't the exclusion of people that don't experience sexual pleasure or romantic feelings. Queer pleasure is anything that feels good physically or simply feels good in general. Whether that is with someone else or not doesn't matter in queer pleasure, in some ways a lot more freeing than the mainstream look at pleasure.

Politics surrounding queer pleasure and desire

Radical queer politics has a lot to do with queer desire and pleasure because queer relationships were outlawed in the United States for a very long time. Queer people could not meet in bars without the bar being swatted, queer people were not safe being seen with each other because of laws and because society saw us as less than human. It wasn't until the twentieth century that queer marriage was finally allowed and even then law makers tried to outlaw it every opportunity they could. No matter what, queer people are always subject to judgment over something we cannot control such as what we derive pleasure from.

Pleasure in my life

Ever since I learned about queer desire and pleasure I've looked at everyday things that I derive pleasure from that isn't the obvious. I find personal success and healing to be the main way in which I find pleasure in my life, it brings me happiness and peace to know I'm doing well for myself. Even when I'm not doing well mentally or physically there are still things I can do that I know will make me feel better. Things like, reading and watching movies are things that are guaranteed to bring me pleasure. Talking to my partner also makes me immensely happy which is something I do everyday. It's very easy to let life ruin you and consume you with bad thoughts and feelings but knowing that there are things that still make me happy without fail makes me hopeful.
