Clear aim
Excludes women with a Hx of venous thrombosis so finds prevalence in relation to CoC itself
Paper have been exclude that are not specific to type of oral contraceptive



Weaknesses: 
-There are no data from randomized controlled trials; thus, the analysis was limited to comparative observational trials which could have resulted in biased results
- Only one study from outside of USA and Europe
-5 of the studies included did not clearly state oestrogen dose contained in the CoC examined

-Authors looked for best evidence- no RCT available
- Studies worldwide and not limited to english publications



Weaknesses:
- random 10 CoC examined: not considering prevalence of prescription
-Age of participants was not catered for when selecting studies, and due to higher risk of VT in older women
-Dosage of oestrogen not stated in some of the studies reviewed
