I used many warm colors as my shapes so for the ground I used more of a cool color to make the warms stand out. I enjoy water color because I think the colors are pretty when I first put on a light layer. I have a difficult time making sure you can’t see where I stopped and started each stroke because of the quickly drying paint.

In this image I had to make my highlights and shadows very light and dark to make the object look 3D. I also had to be aware of the shadows with the leaves over the paint tubes and the paint tubes overlapping each other. I chose to use the yellow flower because I thought I thought the yellow would pop if it was next to two duller colors.

I applied multiple layers to the ground and the palm trees. I had to use different colors for the ground so I could differentiate between the lights in the sand and the dark browns in the sand. I enjoyed this process because this painting was more fun for me. My favorite part of this painting was doing the palm trees because those were something I had never done in detail like I did.

Shading each individual grape was difficult and time consuming because I had to make sure I could see both the lights and darks in each grape. Once I added the vine, the grapes looked more real. The highlights in the bowl were also difficult for me to do. Overall, I enjoyed this painting.

Acrylic Landscape

I started with painting the mountains and then painted the trees, then the water and then the boat. I think I painted the mountains in the background well. That was my favorite part of the painting because I got to use a pallete knife. I had never used one to paint with before.

It was challenging for me to figure out how to add texture to the elephant’s skin. I did many small dots of different darks, lights, and some blues to make it seem real. In addition to that, I liked doing the toenails because the highlights and shadows were different in the way that they were not in a specific pattern/shape.

I enjoyed contrasting the lights to the darks in this painting. While I did not enjoy the fact that the paint does not dry quick, it was simpler to blend the paint together. I like the small pops of color the ends of the flower petals have. Also, I found it simpler to add the shadows to the flower but found it more difficult to add the highlights and shadows to the leaves above the flower.

I enjoyed doing the background because the different colors in the sunset were fun to blend. As Charlie Puth once said, “It’s been a long day without you my friend, but I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again. We’ve come a long way from where we began, but I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again.”
