Commonality: One thing we all have in common is that we enjoy watching tv as a way to relieve stress.

Our group goal: Our goal is to be more open. In the sense that we want to try new things and get out of our comfort zones. Like going out to school events, joining clubs, or meeting new people!

Three fun facts about the cougar pantry are:

1)The cougar pantry was created with the goal of reducing food insecurity of csusm students. As in 2015 ASI created a survey that found that over 50% of csusm students have been struggling with food insecurity on campus.

2)Although it is a food bank it doesn’t quite operate similarly. Us csusm students can roam around the pantry and get items as if it was a regular supermarket. Not only can you get food, but you can also get basic necessities like hygiene products or school supplies.

3)The cougar pantry is partnered with the feeding America dan Diego food bank , in where it receives most of its food.

Campus Event: A campus event we plan on going together is the Fresh Market Monday event at the Cesar Chavez Plaza on Monday at 11am - 1pm . Where we will get free distribution of fruits and veggies .

- What we all have in common is that we are all first generation college students.

- Our group goal for the semester is to turn in all of our assignments on time and make sure we have a successful first year.

Fun Facts About the César Chávez Statue:
1. The statue was CSUSM’s first outdoor public art piece, unveiled in 1997 to honor César Chávez, a nationally recognized civil rights leader.

2. It is located at Chavez Plaza and stands above the words “Sí Se Puede” meaning “Yes, we can” a powerful message that inspires students as they pass by.

3. Students say if you rub the book Chávez is holding while climbing the stairs, it brings good luck and especially before exams.

Pro Tips:

1. Don’t forget to rub the book when you climb the stairs to have good luck!

2. The statue makes the perfect backdrop for a group selfie!

Campus Event: Make a Pet Rock.

Commonality: We like to watch movies

Our group goal: Learn about time management and exploring more into college, doing clubs, sports or work studies.

Fun Facts About the University Store:

1)All graduation cap and down all after the grad party

2)Scansion are the most popular item brought for my the university store due to classes which requires you to buy and use it for exam and final.

3)The crash mascot of CSUSM is polite as well for gift for sibling or for themselves as a customer to have for company and collection.

Campus Event: My culture is not a Trend

Tuesday, Sept.24, noon-1 p.m, USU 3300 (Latinx Center) Learn about problematic stigmas that society creates and the inappropriate portrayal of members in the Latinx community.

Goal: Our group goal for the semester is to not to fail any classes and not procrastinate our work so we will complete it on time.

Fun Facts About Cougar Pantry:

1) The CSUSM Cougar Pantry is ran by a group of students, volunteers, and staff and is located in the Commons Building.

2) Any CSUSM student can go once a week to the Cougar Pantry to get produce and hygiene products.

3) The CSUSM Cougar Pantry was created because of a student survey going around that more than 50% of CSUSM students were struggling with food insecurity.

Pro Tips:

1. To bring your own bag to stock up on supplies because the baskets get used up.

2. Come on your free time to avoid not being late to classes because of the long line.

Campus Event:

The campus event we all plan to go to together is the Fresh Market Monday located at the Chavez Plaza from 11am-1pm.

Commonality- We all commute to school every day and look for new places to go to wait in between classes.

Fun Facts-

1) The commuter lounge has a printing station so that you don't have to wait in the long lines at the library.(especially good if you need something quick, like for a class you have in 20 minutes)

2)The Commuter lounge has a full kitchen with a sink, microwaves, and other handy things you may need while sitting around.

3) Inside, there is a vending machine and bathrooms, so you don't have to go far when you need something quick when sitting around for 2 hours in between classes.

Pro Tips-

1)When on the go, make sure to always bring a water bottle to refill at the hydration station nearby; it's never too good to have water on hand after a long day.

2)When looking for a spot to sit, make sure to always ask before taking a seat next to someone; they could have gotten up really quickly, and it's always good to be polite.

1. Open to ALL currently enrolled CSUSM students, and can visit ONCE per week to receive food and other necessities.

2. NO APPOINTMENT needed! Students can just drop in.

3. They're open through Mon-Thu 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Pro Tips:

1. Take advantage of your gap classes to stop by Cougar Pantry! They only allow 4 students in at once, it's best to go early before the line builds up.

2. Carry your own bag! The pantry offers only a limited number of baskets, and they tend to run out quickly!

Description: Join USU Live in the USU Commuter Lounge for some breakfast on the way to class! First-come, first-served.

To Maintain Good grades throughout the school year.

Fun facts about the cougar pantry:

1. The pantry is open to anyone on campus, You are able to come in and shop at least one day out of each week.

2. If you don’t want to make the trip to the actual food pantry there are mini fridges throughout the campus, ex. On the 2nd floor of the library, in the gym, in the USU, etc. You are able to grab and go.

3. In preparation of the pantry we started a campaign called Bite Out Hunger, to spread awareness of food insecurity. CSUSM was able to donate almost 600 pounds of food to get the pantry started.

Pro Tips:

1. Make sure to come early so that you aren’t waiting in a big line, so coming early or in between classes could reduce the line

2. Have a checklist so you figure out what supplies you’re missing out from your dorm such as food like mac&cheese, milk, yogurt, vegetables, and hygienic supplies as well.     

Campus Event: 

We attended the chow on deck event at the Epstein family veterans center. We arrived at around 12:30pm (it started at 12) until it ended at about 1pm. We were able to eat free hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, and drinks.

Commonality: We all want to expand our knowledge in the many things, like being able to manage our time efficiently.

Facts:

1. The financial aid office is mainly led by students who attend CSUSM

2. They assist students with understanding costs, identifying financial aid resources, and managing finances to achieve academic success.

3. They open a general scholarship on October 1st that applies for every scholarship that the school has to offer.
