In 1956, protests erupted in Poland. The Polish Communist  Part adopted a series of reforms in October 1956 and elected Wladyslaw Golmuka as first Secretary. Poland pledged to remain loyal to the Warsaw Pact.
At the end of 1995, Aleksander K., Who is a former communist , defeated Walesa and became the new president (Glencoe,662).
