During this trip, I have developed my socialisation skills along with decision-making and accepting different cultures. I corresponded frequently with the Hungarian students and got on very well with them. I have learned that Hungary is a country with its own traditions and customs. I would strongly recommend this experience to others since if one comes along as the amount of new things that your learn and the amount of new friends you make is unimaginable. It is for sure an experience that we will never forget, it is a different way of learning, not necessarily in a school on a bench, we learnt mostly by being there, doing the actual things. I learned mostly about their food, which was, interesting, their culture is amazing! I learned to start your day with friends, as in eating with them, I realized that relationships are very important, and talking to the pen pals without using your mobile phone is rewarding. Another thing is listening skills, we had to listen a lot, as the students were explaining a lot to us, and teaching us a lot, about their culture, day to day lives and much more. We were talking mostly about our likings, music taste etc, as they have similar likings to us. - JAKE FARRUGIA

By being physically there, I was able to visit the cultural sites first hand. This taught me more than if I were to sit in a classroom and see the sites from a computer. Whilst there, we visited the fisherman's bastions, St. Stephen's basilica, visited the caves found under Buda and more. Throughout the trip we had to be good at time management as wee did not have all the time in the world. If we have an hour to kill and you are in a group where everyone has different wants then you need to split your time accordingly. If others have the option to take part in an activity like this, I would highly recommend it...they should take part as this opportunity gives a chance to visit a new country and learn about its culture.- ALEXANDER VASSALLO

It’s a lifetime experience, where one can socialise and interact with people from different cultures and create new friendships along the way. Teamwork and self confidence....by working with both my friends and the Hungarians, I have developed these skills in the Global Citizenship activities and interactive language sessions we had together. It gives you the opportunity to learn about other cultures, it helps you build relationships with students from other countries and even get to know your schoolmates and helps be more responsible and learn more the language like French and you will have fun. I think that everyone should apply for such an opportunity cause other than it being enjoyable, I learnt many skills that I had to develop being on my own and living in a different place without the parents. For instance, I learnt how to work more in a team, how to be more organised and take care of my self, and how to be more adaptable in different situations. My favourite part of the trip was our time in Miskolc where we interacted with the Hungarian students and made many memories with them. I have learned that Hungary is a country that is full of greenery and fresh air. I have also learned that unlike the Maltese, Hungarians prefer silence and are much less noisy than we are. I was given this opportunity because I showed that I could be trusted and that I had shown an interest in the project. In order to participate I had to communicate with my pen pal from Hungary via email and a video call, and show that I was able to take the project seriously and create a connection with the Hungarian students. I have mostly developed my oral communication and teamwork skills since we had a lot of group works where we had to work with the Hungarian students that we barely knew at the time. I have also developed my self-awareness and my self-care skills since I had to be much more responsible for myself and my things than I would normally be on a trip with my parents. - JAKE BALZAN

I have learned many things especially about their history. I learned about heroes square, their parliament, the Buda castle and the caves. I also learned some things about their traditional food and what they like to eat most. I have developed certain skills such as being more organized, responsible and taking care of myself and others. It was a fun experience and helps bond with other people. What I learnt? A lot about self care. Since my parents were not there, I had to take care of myself. Decision making also. I learnt that Hungary has got a lot of medieval history since we visited the castle and Pest as well as history related to second world war especially when we visited the Jews shoes monument by the Danube. I enjoyed most swimming at the thermal baths , the caves and the bicycle ride at Margaret Island. There was a variety of activities and the teachers organised everything very well. I have learned various Hungarian traditions and ways of culture. I must say it is a beautiful country and a perfect habitat to enjoy my first and probably last experience with my college mates abroad. It was an opportunity one should never miss. I will definitely remember my experiences in Hungary forever. While on this trip one could experience different lifestyles lived by different individuals in other countries. This trip definetely helped me in developing independency when it came to taking care of my belongings and myself. I came to Hungary to improve my German with Hungarian students who are learning German also. We joined German lessons and worked out exercises. I have learnt that their everyday way of life is different from ours. Hungary is a dazzling place, with great people and fabulous food! Others should try this out as it can help you widen your scope on life, and teach you about new cultures and people, and of course make some new friends along the way. Others should definitely try out this experience, as it is a fun way to explore a new country while having fun with friends. There is a lot of greenery. In Budapest, there are a lot of points of interest, and surprisingly, there are many caves.
