Now the Jews were very smart business wise and with their wits, they were prospering and were making money with their jobs. The Germans didn't like this, so Hitler used this anger and frustration that the Germans had towards the Jews and used it to come to power. Many Jews, like Anne's family, had to go into hiding because the Nazi's would send summons to known Jews to go to concentration camps, as well as the discrimination that was put upon Jews including that all Jews had to wear a Star of David. Together with seven others she hides in the secret annex at Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. After more than two years in hiding they are discovered and deported to concentration camps. Anne’s father, Otto Frank, is the only one of the eight people to survive. They all started in a Concentration Camp just about 80 miles out from where they were hiding in Holland. They eventually got moved to Auschwitzs and Anne, Margot, and Edith Frank, as well as Mrs. Van Pel were split from Peter and Mr. Van Pel, and Otto Frank. Margot, Anne, and Mrs. Van Pel got put on cattle cars and moved to Burgen-Belsen. Shortly after, Edith died in Auschwitzs. In Bergen-Belsen, Typhus was spreading quickly. Margot died of Typhus and Anne shortly after her, about 3 weeks after their death, the camp was liberated. Mr. And Mrs. Van Pel, died shortly after Margot. Peter was taken from a camp and was used for a while until he ended up in another camp where he died on the same day the camp was liberated, Otto Frank was the only one to survive. He went back to the Annex and found Anne's Diary and got it publish.
