I relate more to the second perspective because understanding the meaning of my prayers helps me feel more connected to my faith. While Arabic unites Muslims globally, I think personal understanding is key to a deeper spiritual connection.

I agree with the first one. If you don't understand arabic but want to understand the quran either learn Arabic or read translations of it in your language. Besides how could praying in Arabic be isolating?

I agree with the first one as arabic is tge language the quran was revealed in and as Muslims we believe it was done for a reason and so we should learn Arabic and understand ut to strengthen our faith. Dua is also considered praying and that can be done in any language so it doesn’t feel isolating as Allah swt understands our prayers in any form and language

I relate to the first perspective cuz I believe Arabic is the scared language of Islam and translation of a language won’t be able to express the actual meaning or capture the true sentiment. We can always read the meaning of the language to know what we are praying in but transforming Arabic language to a completely different language for praying doesn’t apply for me.

I agree with Arabic being the Language of the Qur’an that unites Muslim worldwide. For me it is a sacred language and having just one language makes it easier for people of different backgrounds to pray together and causes less confusion.

Since Arabic is my first language, I kind of relate more to the first quote stating: “Arabic is the language of the Qur’an and unites Muslims worldwide. Changing this could weaken our shared identity.” I have grown up with Arabic, its been instilled in me from a young age, but I do not entirely think that practicing Islam in another language is necessarily ‘bad’ or ‘prohibited’, as long as it doesn’t stray you further into more Western ideologies.

Arabic holds a deep cultural and spiritual significance in Islam, as it is the language in which the Qur’an was revealed. Although i dont know Arabic i still feel deeply connected to it. While I understand the importance of making religious practices accessible, the Arabic language carries meanings and nuances that cannot always be fully translated. For me even when I don’t understand every word, the act of reciting prayers in Arabic feels like participating in a global and historical tradition that strengthens my bond with the faith and its followers worldwide.

I agree with the first quote Arabic is the language of the Quran and prayer and in my opinion it should stay that way. However, I do believe translation can be present for non-Arabic speakers since most of the muslims around the world are not Arabic speakers.

I relate with both of the quotes where I do see Arabic as a language where it does connect us Muslims due to the Quran but at the same time as a non Arab speaker sometimes reading or reciting without understanding of the meaning can feel empty or may not feel a certain way towards it. But in most cases just being able to read and hear Quran for non native speakers brings calmness which most people find content with.

As an Arab, I do understand Arabic obviously when I use it in my prayers, but I encourage Arabic also for the reason of it's strong connection to the religion, as well as the ability to connect a variety of different societies from around the globe together via Islam and Arabic.

I always wondered how does it feel for non-arabic Muslims praying in Arabic and do they understand ehat they read and preform, I haven't tried this myself so I don't think I can give a fair opinion on this matter.

I agree with the statement that Arabic unites the Muslim community worldwide. While it may seem convenient to implement your native tongue in Islamic practices, I feel like this could potentially lead to Islam branching off and varying with geographical boundaries. Having a common language associated to Islam helps us in practicing the religion in multilingual settings as well. For example, who’s to decide what language a prayer is supposed to be led in if there isn’t a common language between a group of people?

“changing this could weaken our shared identity”, I believe that religion is what brings us all together, we may have different cultures, traditions, way of life. However, in the end we are all the same during our prayers, and that is the beauty of Islam, how we are all able to unite together in doing something meaningful.

“praying in a language i don’t understand feels isolating” We should be constantly learning, memorizing, and understanding what we are reciting during our prayer. It wouldn’t make us feel much connection in the prayer if we just recite without knowing the meaning. This isn’t just for non-Arabs, but for Arabs as well, since our dialects are different than the standard Arabic of the Quran.

I relate to the first perspective more, because it is really important to understand why we are using Arabic to recite our prayers. Arabic is a sacred language, it has really deep spiritual ties to Islam. Therefore it only makes sense to use this language when practicing Islam. Non Arabs should try their best to learn the Arabic involved in religious rituals and understand it of course. Islam is very considerate and flexible for those having hardships doing the rituals they're efforts would surely be rewarded.

I definitely agree with the first quote, firstly because it is the language that came from

Allah and the language of the Quran; it is beautiful when one language gathers all Muslims which indicates power and unity.

Finally, if you get use to learn and recite in Arabic , this will pave you the way to better understand about Islamic teaching.

Mostly because I'm not a muslim and the connection with God and the faith we have matters more than the traditional practice.

I relate with the first quote, because our islamic community shares a language and greetings in the language like the salam, when someone says the salam to you you automatically thinks he is a muslim indeed, because it is what connects us all. I relate to the first one more because personally i am used to reciting Qur'an in Arabic and praying in the same language. So changing would really throw me off from what I have practiced for years. And to me it won't be as pure as it is in Arabic.

I relate to the first perspective as a non arabic speaker. I have studied Arabic a little and the language is really rich and deep and there is a reason why it was chosen as the language of the Quran. I don’t think suing Arabic language isolates me as a non Arabic speaker because I am able to appreciate the language and thus relate to it more rather than take it for granted.

Even though Arabic isnt my first language, I relate more to perspective 1 as I understand I've studied quranic Arabic so I understand Arabic in most religious contexts easily. I do also relate to perspective 2 though as I've experienced it when growing up, and do understand the difficulties that come with it.
