For starters, we have so many delicious and handmade sweets you can enjoy such as Kourampiedes (butter biscuits with sugar powder and festive spices), Melomakarona (flavourful sweet with syrup and walnuts), Diples (thin dough dessert with cinnamon and honey) and Vasilopita ( special cake with a coin inside). 

Also, we share carols called “Kalada”. One for the Christmas Eve, another one for  the New Years Eve  and one  for the Epiphany. It’s really fun! We sing door to door and I’m  going with my family or friends too! In those important days, every home usually has family gatherings with their relatives to celebrate traditions while embracing its long-standing religious history as well.

Some years ago, people used to decorate their houses with a boat (Karavaki) which symbolises the Greek maritime culture. Nowadays, an amount of people still  keeping up this tradition, although many have replaced the boat with the Christmas tree. 

To sum up, I personally love Christmas in Greece. Maybe because winter is my favourite season of the year and the entire city is decorated with admirable lights and Christmas related figures! Students and teachers of sub-group 5 saw each other and shared thoughts and feelings about the project and their cooperation. In particular, we talked about our schools, cities and sights, what we've done so far, what we've learnt and what we've liked.

As our European eTwinning project Pinocchio Remix comes to a joyful close, we proudly reflect on the journey filled with imagination, teamwork, and multicultural exchange. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this inspiring experience.

👩‍🎓 Students as Storytellers & Creators

A special thank-you to the talented students of the 1st and 2nd grades of the 7th Gymnasium of Thessaloniki. With enthusiasm and creativity, they reimagined the story of Pinocchio in English, illustrated it, and brought it to life through narration and recordings in English, French, German, and Greek.

👩‍🏫 Educators Who Guided the Way

This project would not have flourished without the unwavering support of our dedicated teachers:
