In this week, I learnt about the Principles of Microbial Ecology. This was really interesting introduction for me because I really interested to know about microbial ecology and how the interaction was about. I can learn about the ecology of microorganisms: their relationship with one another and with their environment where it concerns the three major domains of life—Eukaryota, Archaea, and Bacteria as well as viruses. This week also the orientation week where all of us get know to each other and made a group for our assignments.

<title>20 Feb until 1 March This chapter consumed 3 weeks to finish it. I admitted that I have to read a lot of slides in the Microbial Group’s chapter. Actually I was familiar about all the knowledge in this chapter because I already studied it in the first semester but not quite remember about it. Microorganims are widespread in nature and are beneficial to life, but some can cause serious harm. They can be divided into six major types: bacteria, archaea, fungi, protozoa, algae, and viruses. By learning about it again, I am sure it will help in my FYP project too. Dr Wan also explained about the SCL, POBL, REVIEW ARTICLE that will help for our carry marks.</title>

<title>6 &amp; 8 March This week I learnt about Microbial Metabolism and Nutrition. This chapter actually quite boring because I have to remember a lot of things. I could understand how microbe obtains the energy and nutrients (e.g. carbon) it needs to live and reproduce. Microbes use many different types of metabolic strategies and species can often be differentiated from each other based on metabolic characteristics. But, it was so funny because I enjoyed the class taught by Dr Wan. Instead of memorizing everything, I could understand very well based on her explaination in the classroom. There was also group task in the classroom. I was not feel sleepy especially after listening a lot of lectures from her.</title>

<title>13 &amp; 15 March In this week, I learnt about Distribution of Microorganisms. It was really interesting topic. And I enjoyed it very well. For example, the distribution of microorganisms in soil is influenced by numerous abiotic and biotic factors, primarily by soil type, plant species, soil usage and tillage, use of organic and mineral fertilizers and etc.</title>

<title>27 March This week Dr Amalia took over the class. I learnt about the Soil Habitat and it was really interesting topic. Soil is the link between the air, water, rocks, and organisms, and is responsible for many different functions in the natural world that we call ecosystem services. These soil functions include: air quality and composition, temperature regulation, carbon and nutrient cycling, water cycling and quality, natural &quot;waste&quot; (decomposition) treatment and recycling, and habitat for most living things and their food.</title>

<title>29 March &amp; 10 April I learnt about Aquatic Habitat. Bacteria, viruses, and fungi are widely distributed throughout aquatic environments. This chapter was related to Aquatic microbiology where it deals with microscopic living organisms in fresh or salt water systems.</title>

<title>12 April &amp; 17 April This week I learnt about Atmospheric Habitat. This week my group did the SCL Task .We did a quizzes regarding this topic. I really enjoyed it.I learnt about:1. Biodiversity of airborne propagules 2. The atmosphere as a microbial habitat 3. Role of microorganisms in atmospheric processes 4. Aerial-aquatic interactions in aero-microbiology 5. High altitude aero-microbiology and the limits of life 6. Methodological development in aero-microbiology research </title>

Microorganisms rarely occur as single species populations and are encountered in many hosts/environments, thus there is a large variety of types of microbial interactions concerning the organisms involved. This was really interesting topic.</title>
