In document L there were many of victims of the Salem Witch Trial including Rebekkah Nurse, who was found guilty and hanged. During the deposition of Ann Putna, she accused Nurse of killing Benjamin Holton, John Fuller, and Rebekah Shepard as it said in the document. This speculatory evidence that was presented to the court led to Nurse being convicted and executed. To support this claim in document L it says "she would afflict me all day long and would kill me if she

could, for she told me she killed Benjamin Holton and John Fuller

and Rebekah Sherpa" .

During the Salem Witch Trials, there were girls who claimed to be "possessed by the devil" it gave them hallucinations, vomiting, delusion, spasms, and the sensation of something crawling under the skin. It would also cause people to cross their legs, which was a common symptom of hysteria. This made people believe that whoever has this were possessed by the devil. In Document H, it states "experienced by those who were convinced that their neighbors were conjuring

against them."

Conclusion

In conclusion, there were many victims of the Salem Witch Trial that were wrongfully executed under accusations of witchcraft. This all began when accusers such as Abigail Williams and Betty Parris began acting strange and claimed to be possessed which led to the trials of more than over 150 people. Later in the year people started to found out that that there was a fungus called ergot that grew on wheat. The consumption of this fungus led to hysteria which gave them symptoms that were similar to other girls in the village who claimed to be possessed. In the end, the Salem Witch Trial was cause by the ergot (food poising) wheat which led to hysteria and the widespread fear of witchcraft in the village.

During this time their was a bacteria that grew on wheat and it was it is called ergot this was apart of the reason why people in the village developed hysteria in document N it states "Ergotism is characterized by a number of symptoms. These include crawling sensations in the skin, tingling in the fingers, vertigo, …hallucinations,…mania, melancholia, psychosis, and delirium". This document is supporting case two because in case two it talks about about the symptoms for hysteria. Document N also supports the fact that their were a group of young girls who were acting strange and had all the signs of hysteria and food poising (ergot) in the document it also state "All of these symptoms are alluded to in the Salem witchcraft records". These two statements are showing that before people found out about these two they made assumptions that they were the devil or possessed which led them the all the trials.
