The Great Gatsby by: F. Scott Fitzgerald
January 13th, 2017-January 30th, 2017
This Book is about a wealthy man named Jay Gatsby and his attempted to throw extravagant parties to meet the love of his life, Daisey buchanan. This story is told in the narration of his neighbor Nick Caraway who is also so a cousin of Daisey. It is a tragic love story that ends in death that was based on a lie. I would recommend this book for high school students because of the drama and love story behind the story. I good teaching point for this book would be creative writing.

Lord of the Flies by: Willam Goldins
March 18th, 2017-March 29th, 2017
This book is about a plane crash that crashed on an uncharted island, stranding a group of schoolboys. At first, with no adult supervision, their freedom is something to celebrate. This far from civilization they can do anything they want. Anything. But as order collapses, as strange howls echo in the night, as terror begins its reign. Many of them begin to disappear every time th theu hear thr howl. I woudl recommend this book to highschool because of the content (eating one another) However, a good teaching point would be irony or hidden meaning.

Of Mice and Men by: John Steinbeck
April 9th, 2017- April 19th, 2017
This book is about two men George and Lennie. In this tale you notice that Lennie is not like eveyrone else. He seems to have the mind of a child and George seems to be his keeper. In this tale Lennie does something that is unimaginable that ruins his life. This book is great for middle or high, however, due to the academic language high is probably best. A great teaching point would be about people who are older but have the mind of a child. You could also use it to teach theme.

Animal Farm by: George Orwell
April 9th, 2017- April 19th, 2017
This book is about a farm that is taken over by its overworked, mistreated animals. They use flaming idealism and stirring slogans, they set out to create a paradise of progress, justice, and equality. However, the grass isnt always greener. This book is great for highschool students learning about government. It show the way that things can go from good government standing to a bad one.

Number the Stars by: Lois Lowry
March 29th, 2017-April 8th, 2017
This Book follows Annemarie Johansen’s as they takes in Annemarie’s best friend, Ellen Rosen, and conceals her as part of the family. Through the eyes of ten-year-old Annemarie, we watch as the Danish Resistance smuggles almost the entire Jewish population of Denmark, nearly seven thousand people, across the sea to Sweden. I would reccommend this book to 8th grade above because of the standards. This would be a great book to teach about World War II as well as heroism.

A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning by: Lemony Snicker
February 17th, 2017-Feburary 25th, 2017
This book is about 3 kids names Violet, Klaus, and Sunny. They loose everything including their parents in a house fire. Now orphans they are forced to live with a relative, Count Olaf, who is only out to get their riches. This book is the very beginning of a series. I would recommend this book/series to middle school students because it is a lower level reader. A teaching point for this could be creative writing or character traits.

However, the search getting complicated when Mrs. Sharpe begins acting mysterious with the clues. I would recommend this book for high school because some of the content found in the book when referring to a girl. A good teaching point for this point would be different types of literature and smilies.

Thirteen Reasons Why by: Jay Asher
February 28th, 2017-March 3rd, 2017
This book is about a girl named Hannah Baker who committed suicide. The book is narrated by her friend Clay Jensen. In the book Hannah Baker created 13 tapes why she decided to commit suicide. Each tape is about a different person and the actions they did to hurt Hannah. the tapes have been passed around and now its Clay's turn, however, it is hard for him to listen because he was in love with her. I would recommend this book to middle and high school students. a good teaching point would be bullying and how your actions can really affect others.

He relates well to animals but has no understanding of human emotions. He cannot stand to be touched. And he detests the color yellow. I this book Christopher begins a quest to investigate the suspicious death of a neighborhood dog. This is a great story for higschool students.
