Some are doing well in education and training. Some are good at industrial collaboration. They have different strengths.

And we need to admit that we do not know others very well and were not listening to people from overseas very well.

However, we must also accept that (on occaisons) other groups in the UK view us as competitors and actively do not include us in proposals where we could make a good contribution, as they view us as a potential threat. Or limit our involvement in a way that doesn't utilise all we can offer as they are leading - as is academic prerogative - although conversely also harms their chance of sucess

Activity usually relies on a funding stream to maintain - do we keep up to date enough of the opportunities?


And do these funding opportunities open up doors to new and further international engagement?


Is this something we want to pursue? We probably have other priorities first - but a measure of our international visibility would be useful
