This lesson can be completed in a classroom with a tv or interactive white board, with the students sitting and listening.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Under the AITSL standard 1.4 curriculum elaborations, which involves providing the knowledge of linguistic background of Aboriginal Australians. This task involves introducing and practicing language of Aboriginal Australians to students to enable an understanding of a few words of the aboriginal language. The AITSL standard 2.4 curriculum elaborations, states under the ‘proficient’ area of this standard: give pupils the chance to learn about and respect the history, cultures, and languages of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. This task allows the students to practice the words of the language while participating in a fun activity, which makes the task more enjoyable and makes the students more likely to remember the words as they are more likely to remember the task. Themes of Identity are shown in this task as the students gather their knowledge of the aboriginal Australian language together as they collectively shoot goals and practice saying the words. Themes of Country are shown in this task through students of aboriginal and non-aboriginal culture join to share knowledge of the Aboriginal Australian language. Themes of reciprocity are shown through the teachers exchange of knowledge to the students of language and games. This resource follows under the Victorian Curriculum code; VCLVC131. Participate in guided group activities, such as games, songs and simple tasks, using movement and gestures to support understanding and to convey meaning (Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority, 2022). This activity enables students to foster an understanding and respect for Aboriginal language and encourages reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. It enables the ability to investigate the aboriginal language in an educational setting. This lesson sequence incorporates the Aboriginal language in an educational setting. It also involves an understanding of student learning as you can listen to them say the words to assess if they understand how to say the word and know what it means. The students will follow this lesson plan to discover the aboriginal language using a game which allows understanding of the Aboriginal language, and the students can develop a wider understanding and respect of aboriginal culture.</div><div>&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Following the AITSL standard 1.4 (2022) ‘Demonstrate broad knowledge and understanding of the impact of culture, cultural identity and linguistic background on the education of students from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.’ This resource introduces thorough knowledge and comprehension of Aboriginal culture and the aspects of the land and people. It elaborates on the Aboriginal society and key aspects such as the colours of the rainbow, water, different types of land. This resource encourages harmony between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, it also encourages respect and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people following the AITSL standard 2.4. Themes of Identity are shown in this resource through the demonstrations of people and place in the video/song. Themes of Country are shown in the images and descriptions of Aboriginal Australian land and the significance of this land to Aboriginal Australians. Themes of reciprocity is demonstrated in this resource as the ideas and importance of the land is described in the video and shared to all Australians. In this case the knowledge will be shared to young students who can gather knowledge and connect their knowledge of Australian land to the ways in which Aboriginal Australians view the land. This resource encourages peace between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, it evaluates the theories and perspectives of Aboriginal Australian land and offers insights into the historical importance of this land. This resource allows great insight into the Aboriginal culture and allows the use of The Arts curriculum code<strong>; </strong>VCAMUR024, ‘Respond to music, communicating their preferences and discussing where and why people in their local area make and perform music, including the music of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ (Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority, 2022). This resource follows&nbsp; under the following Victorian Curriculum codes. Victorian Curriculum code; VCLVC131. Participate in guided group activities, such as games, songs and simple tasks, using movement and gestures to support understanding and to convey meaning (Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority, 2022). It also follows the Victorian curriculum code: VCLVC133, discover key information about Country/Place by exploring Country/Place and listening to stories from respected community members (Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority, 2022). This recourse covers the Victorian curriculum code: VCLVC135, participate in shared listening to, viewing and reading of texts and respond through singing, miming, play-acting, drawing, action and movement. This resource will allow students to gather an understanding of the aboriginal culture and developing wider knowledge of the important parts of the land viewed by Aboriginal Australians.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>AITSL standards 1.4 curriculum elaborations (2022) discuss the task of ‘developing teaching programs that support equitable and ongoing participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students by engaging in collaborative relationships with community representatives and parents/carers.’ This is displayed in this task through the ongoing ability to watch these videos as there are multiple to watch over a period of time. These videos made by community representative’s, enable the ongoing learning of Aboriginal Australians and discusses relationships between Aboriginals, the community which they live and key activities and tasks which are completed by these communities. AITSL standards 2.4 curriculum elaborations (2022) consider the ability to ‘Provide opportunities for students to develop understanding of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and languages.’ This is provided in this task as students will get the ability to learn and understand more about the Aboriginal culture and therefore will allow growth of respect and understanding of the Aboriginal Australians. Themes of Identity are demonstrated in this resource through the students ability to gain knowledge of their own culture and differences between their cultures and the Aboriginal Australian culture. Themes of Country are revealed through the videos by allowing the students to gain information about the different people in their country of Australia which they live and share land. It can be some you know or someone from this list.<br><strong>WOIWURRUNG WORDS TO TRY </strong><br>Dingo: WIRINGIL (WI-ring-il)&nbsp;<br>Grey Kangaroo: MARRAM (MAHR-rum)<br>Snake: KAAN (CAHN)<br>Goanna: DHULINY (DTHOO-liyn)&nbsp;<br>Turtle: BUNDABUN (BOON-dah-boon)<br>This task can be completed on a basketball court in the school. Chalk is used to write a word out from the Aboriginal language., at a distance appropriate from the hoops, to suit the year level of students participating. Each letter should be one metre apart. You may control the language whichever you like. Each player attempts to shoot the ball into the hoop. You go on to the following letter if you get it in. The following player takes their turn if you miss. The winner is the first one complete all letters, the winner will then yell out the word.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Little J &amp; Big Cuz is a website of short videos of two Australian Indigenous children learn about their culture, nation, and community. Each episode comes with excellent teaching tools and comments that are related to the EYLF (The Early Years Learning Framework). This activity can be done in the classroom where the students watch the videos. It is a perfect activity for not only during class times but during wet day timetables and during a break, as it is interesting and informal at the same time.</div>]]></description>
