1) Please write or type your scholar's name, subject and score (fraction, percentage, letter, etc.) they received LARGELY. Whether printed or typed, If typing it, make it at least 14 font if not larger depending on the font itself.

2) Aligned with CA State Standards
3) K-8 2 samples required, but more are encouraged. Just throw all good work into your Seesaw app folders.
4) If you have a TK or K student, you do not need a grade or number score, but in addition to a star or happy face, please include some sort of comment giving feedback to the scholar. i.e. Great job!, Nice writing!, Be careful to..., etc.

5)Do NOT date the work
6) If using Seesaw, only upload on actual school days, not weekends or holidays.
7) If it's a 2 page sample, place pages side by side and take photo.
8) Please follow instructions on how to upload multi-page samples in Seesaw if you have more than 1 page to photograph.
9)Note: If taking a photo of your child doing an activity, be sure your child is in the photo and it should have an accompanying write up explaining what was being learned through the activity or field trip, written by the scholar unless they are so young that they still haven't learned to write sentences, in which case they should dictate what they want you to write. It should always be in the scholar's own words (TK-1st, maybe beginning of 2nd). The length of the write up is dependent upon the grade of the scholar. If you have questions about that, PLEASE contact me so that you don't have to redo any work.

The Learning is Obvious: When anyone looks at the sample, it should be very obvious what was being studied. If it is not, usually in photos, a description should be written. The length & depth of the description should match the grade level of the scholar.

It is representative of the scholar’s actual abilities: These do not have to be A+ work. We want to be sure this is representative of what the child is actually able to do. Let the parents know that. You want authenticity.

It is graded by parent: A letter, percentage or other number grade is acceptable. For younger scholars or when it’s appropriate, a comment written out is also acceptable. With Seesaw it is nice that YOU can also make comments if you’d like.

It shows ongoing progress: Each subsequent sample should show a higher level of expectation than the previous. Their samples must show ongoing progress.
