The conflict is partly resolved when both Ralph and Jack looked at each other at the bright beach, astonished at the rub of feeling (page 55)

Cause of conflict: Ralph and Piggy wanted to 'reconcile' with Jack and the hunter boys. However, as they danced and chanted, they began to lose their mind. When Simon arrived to tell the boys that the Beast was a dead parachutist, the boys were not in the right mind and mistook him for the actual "Beast". So they sank their teeth into Simon and ripped him apart. He died.

Resolution of conflict  There was no resolution as Simon died.

Positive way it could have been solved: They could have been saner and realised that Simon was not the "Beast".

What caused the conflict: Jack argues that Ralph should not be the chief because he is too scared to confront the monster. However, when the entire group disagrees with him, Jack gets so embarrassed that he goes rogue (kind of), running away and splitting off from the group.

How it was resolved: The conflict hardly gets resolved, yet in an unpleasant way. Ralph and Piggy celebrate Jack's absence and create a new fire on the beach with the other members of The Conch Society, while some of the biguns' join Jack as hunters. Hence, there are now two conflicting parties: The Conch Society, representing civilisation and Jack's team symbolising savagery. In fact, the two face off when Jack raids The Conch Society's platform at night to steal their fire.

This could have been avoided if both boys were brave enough to observe the beast more thoroughly, who was just a dead guy in a parachute. Once they were spotted by Jack's tribe, they were ambushed by them using rocks and stones. Ralph and Jack wrestled twice until Piggy reminded them about the importance of rules and order. From the top of the mountain, Roger pushes down a large boulder, intending to hit Ralph and Piggy. Thankfully, Ralph managed to dodge the boulder after hearing it knocking against the mountain repetitively as it fell down the mountain. However, Piggy was unaware of the threat and was immediately hit on the head by the heavy boulder. He was left on the ground, dead, covered in blood, as Ralph ran away because Jack and his tribe were throwing rocks, pebbles, stones, and spears.

SamnEric who were tied to a corner, were then tortured by Jack and Roger as a punishment for not joining Jack's tribe before.

All of this could have been avoided if they had acted nicely toward each other and at least tried to reach a consensus. They could have thought about the consequences before acting. Upon reaching the unfamiliar side of the mountain, Ralph came to the conclusion that the beast was not there. The others then decided to start rolling rocks into the ocean.

The conflict was resolved when Ralph tried to run away; he was cornered on a beach where a navy officer had come from, attracted to the smoke of the fire burning at Castle Rock. The conflict was not resolved well.
The conflict could have been resolved if they had followed what Ralph said instead of descending into Savagery.
