This free app. lets you check your library account, renew loans and search the Heritage Library Catalogue too.

To use the MyCirqa app. you need to have a library account. When you have downloaded the app. find and select New College Durham and login in with your student number and use the day and month of your DOB as your PIN (it says password, but it is a PIN you need to enter).

The Study Store has always offered some excellent deals: Bic pens for 30p, compared to 85p in WH Smith, Pink Pig sketch pads A4 for £4.00 & A3 for £6.00  - These are £6.45 and £9.50 respectively on Amazon.

Finding them is easy -
1. Go onto the Heritage Catalogue - it's on our Schoology and Teams areas and our Intranet pages too.
2. Select the Advanced search option.
3. Select Media Type E-Streamed Recording from the drop down list and enter your search terms.

This will help you find relevant streamed content faster.

If you can't find relevant streamed content on Heritage, tell us what you are looking for and we will find it and add it. Just email library@newdur.ac.uk

At New College Durham we are keen to create a culture of reading among our students by providing opportunities for students and teachers to engage in conversations and activities around reading. 

At the start of the year English Literature students began a ‘Book of the Month’ initiative. They are encouraged to read for pleasure and are offered opportunities in lessons to share what they are currently reading. Since the start of this academic year students have also submitted suggestions for the ‘Book of the Month’ and written a short synopsis of their chosen book. 

We have displayed posters around the sixth form classrooms, corridors, study rooms and the library; the book is also shared on class Teams pages for students to like, comment and share their thoughts on the selection. 

This initiative is now college-wide, we would welcome ‘Book of the Month’ suggestions from staff and students.
