On the top of the hill there are seven skyscrapers, known as Seven Sisters or Stalin’s Skyscrapers. They were built  between 1935 and 1999 under the leadership of Joseph Stalin and his idea was to build eight skyscrapers to commemorate the 8th centenary of the city. However, the project never was finished because of Stalin’s death. Nowadays these buildings are one of the most representing symbols of Moscow and they have different functionalities: two of them are used as apartments buildings, other two are used as hotels (Ukrania and Leningradskaya hotels), other two host the ministry headquarters (the Ministry of Transport Construction and Ministry of Foreign Affers) and the last one is the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) main building. MSU was the tallest building in Europe until 1990 (when a taller museum was built in Germany) with 240 meters of height and 36 floors. It is said that under the MSU there is a bunker with as many floors as the building. And the initial project of MSU building was supposed to have a big statue of Lenin of the top, but the government could not built it because of the Second World War. 

The construction of eighth skyscraper was begun but never finished. So, the authorities decided to demolish the structures and used the to build Luzhniki Stadium. Nowadays in the land of the 8th skyscraper there is Zariadie park.

In Sparrow Hills you can also find the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, which Stalin order to demolish it to build a swimming pool but at the end of the nineties Khrushchev ask to rebuild the Cathedral to thanks God for protecting Russia from Napoleon invasion.

And to finish the visit in Sparrow Hills you can take the cable car and go down to the natural park of Vorobiovy Gory and eat something in a snack bar or sit in a bench and look the sun set.
