Room to Grow: #3

"Model Digital Age Work and Learning"

Ok, so to be honest, sometimes I feel like this lady. There is always new technology emerging. Some of it will be incredibly successful, while some of it while disappear back into the technology swamp six months after it's released. The challenge is trying to figure out which technology is going to stick around, and taking the time to learn how to use that technology effectively. Sometimes I get so used to the technology I already know and love (I'm looking at you, Facebook) that I don't feel the need to try out something new and potentially challenging. However, connecting to my students and their families will mean staying up to date on the newest technology and even using it.

Resources: What will help me grow?

First, websites. SO MANY WEBSITES. A quick Google search for "tech for teachers" results in about 7,000,000 results. This number is totally overwhelming. Therefore, the better resources are those that sort through all the nonsense and pull out what's really important. For example, a couple of the resources we've learned about in this class: EdTechTeacher.org and Lynda.com. Pinterest is another fabulous resource. After a little research, I found a blog called "The Daring Librarian." Gwyneth Jones writes excellent advice on which apps and programs to include in the classroom and how to integrate technology into an existing classroom structure. Fortunately, she also shares my love for Bitmoji. Looks like this will be my go-to resource!
