         <description><![CDATA[<div>1) <strong>Constraint</strong> - A restriction or limit placed on a designed solution or the design process itself. For example: time, money, and materials are all constraints.<br>2) <strong>Design</strong> - A plan for how to build a solution to a problem.<br>3) <strong>Engineer/Engineering</strong> - A person who uses his or her creativity and understanding of materials, tools, mathematics, and science to design things that solve problems.<br>4) <strong>Optical Engineer</strong> - Someone who uses his or her knowledge of math and science, plus creativity, to solve problems involving light.<br>5) <strong>Technology</strong> - Any thing, system, or process that people create and use to solve. problem.<br>6) <strong>Trade-off</strong> - A gain in terms of one factor with a simultaneous loss in terms of another factor.<br><strong>Content:</strong><br>1) <strong>Absorb/Absorption</strong> - When light shines on a material and the energy from the light is absorbed by the atoms in the material. The light does not go through and is not reflected.<br>2) <strong>Angle of incidence</strong> - The angle at which light strikes a surface.<br>3) <strong>Angle of reflection</strong> - The angle at which light is reflected from a surface.<br>4) <strong>Intense/Intensity</strong> - The amount of light in an area. The intensity of light is related to the distance it travels from its source.<br>5) <strong>Reflect/Reflection</strong> - When a ray of light strikes a surface of a material and bounces off of it.<br>6) <strong>Transmit/Transmission</strong> - When a ray of light passes into or inside of a material without changing its path.</div>]]></description>
