After months of often confrontations with government forces, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA, also known as the Taliban) took control of Afghanistan in August. Thousands of people had perished and many more had been injured by the time the combat concluded.

Following the takeover, major international donors halted help to Afghanistan. The situation is still in flux today. Chronic insecurity has wreaked havoc on daily life and key services, most notably medical care. 

The healthcare system is on the verge of collapsing, already under-resourced, understaffed, and under strain from the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, there are a number of non-medical volunteers who assist the field mission run well. Logisticians are in charge of ensuring that the medical component of a mission has all it requires, from security to vehicle maintenance to food and power. They may be engineers or foremen, and they also aid in the establishment of treatment centres and the supervision of local personnel. These people were from all over West Africa, and as far as from the Democratic Republic of Congo to Senegal.
Women on board were being forced into sex trafficking, trying to escape from the conflict in Libya and one woman even witnessed her husband being shot right in front of her 
Thanks to DWB, they were able to rescue everyone on board and young Aubrey was able to celebrate her first birthday
