Car/vehicular

I want to get a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. This car, if brought new, is around $27,000 dollars. If I buy the car used, since the value has depreciated over the years by around 55%-60%, the car should cost, upfront about $11,340. Assuming there’s nothing to be fixed in the car, that’s all I should be spending on it.

College fees

I plan on going to Northwest Community college for two years and then transferring to Jackson State for the last two years. I want to achieve a master’s in secondary or post-secondary education in the science field so I can teach at a high school or college level.

In order to be a teacher, I need 21 total credit hours. Northwest Community College (NWCC) charges $1,700 per semester for this; I’ll be spending two years at NWCC, so that will total $6,800. NWCC is located in Jackson and offers student residence. Quitman and Panola, the two cheapest residence halls for the college, both cost $850 per semester plus a one-time $85 room reservation fee. Mandatory fees include $75.00 per semester registration fee, and a $75.00 per semester technology fee. NWCC also has student meal plans. I would go with plan B, which costs $1,050. This meal plan includes 15 meals per week beginning with dinner on Sunday and ending with lunch on Friday. I’m planning on buying a car beforehand, so parking fees will cost $20.

After two years at NWCC, I’m going to transfer to Jackson State. The average semester fee at Jackson is $4,345. Since two years is four semesters, this will total $17,380. Student living fees include $2,981 for the Stewart hall if I roommate. Mandatory fees include $52.50 per semester for capital improvement, $10.00 per semester for student printing fees, and $75.00 per semester for technology fees. The Jackson student meal plan I’m going to want to have is the Tiger-Gold plan. This plan gives me access to the schools food 7-days a week and costs $2,387. This school also uses photo ID that costs $30. Parking decals and transcripts both cost $40.

NWCC will cost around a total of $12,010, while Jackson State will cost about $23,328. This leaves a total of $40,338. In order to save money and spend the least amount possible, I’m going to apply for a teacher scholarship of $12,000. If I am given this scholarship, I’ll have to pay back $28,338 in total.

            Housing

The average cost of a house in Mississippi is around $149. Since I want a house that about 1,500 square feet, the cost will be about $223,500.

            Family/Wedding/career

I wouldn’t want a huge wedding if I get married because I hate crowds and loudness. I would just want the marriage certificate and to hang out with a few close friends. The average wedding certificate is about $22.

Once I graduate college I’m going to be a high school science teacher. The average teacher in Mississippi earns about $54,374. Let’s say I have a husband/wife, and they’re a welder. My partner would earn about $67,803 per year as of this year. This is a combined total of about $122,150 per year.

      Saving and Paying

With out combined total per year being $122,177 per year, me and my partner will both save 15% of our annual income. This comes to $8,156 for me and $10,170.45 for my partner. This 15% will go into a savings account for wealth and will gain $18,326.25 per year.

The first year of our careers, we will put a down payment on a house that, in this example, is $223,500. The down payment will be $10,000, with $5,000 from each of us.

Not only this, but we’ll also take another %20 to pay for other items such as college, housing, and personal vehicles.

The plan

Saving 15% for savings out of both of our salaries is equal to $18,236.55 in a shared wealth savings account per year. This leaves $103,850 total, or $46,217.9 of my annual earnings and $57,832.55 for my partners annual earnings.

Since each of us will also invest 20% into the other items, this gives us $20,820 a year to invest in items such as vehicles, our house, and school/college.

Starting with this, since the down payment of the house is $10,000, I also would want to invest $5,000 on my car. The rest with be evenly distributed to pay off both of our college/school debts.

Each year from then on, the car will be paid off slowly around $560 a month per year, the house $1,400 a year, and then the rest of it will go to both of our schools until paid off. Even with this, we are still saving money and will have wealth for items such as a pension and retirement
