Here the barons demanded that King John sign a document called the Magna Carta guaranteeing them certain rights. In return, the barons agreed to stand down and surrender London. This is one of the most important documents in history as it established the principle that everyone is subject to the law, even the king, and guarantees the rights of individuals, the right to justice and the right to a fair trial.</div>]]></description>

This was important because It provided protection and security for tenants who either only wanted to or could only farm the land. This provided a hefty percentage of what was work to the Lord (upper class) of that land and the knights that provided protection.
