The British thought that where they built Jamestown was uninhabited and so they could whatever they wanted to, but actualy they built on the Powhatan territory creating a battle against the two poeples.

The colony’s record and many history texts refer to it as the Pequot War(1636-1638). In 1636 the Pequots were blamed for killing an englishman named Oldham. A force of soliders under the command of John Endecott were sent to avenge his death.” 72
