There are many ways that Italian culture’s methods for preparing and cooking foods has influenced Australian cuisine. In many Italian restaurants in Australia have adapted the 'Al Forno' method. ‘Al Forno’ translates to ‘in the oven’ and is primarily associated with a wood-burning brick oven. Italian Cuisines in Australia often utilize this method of cooking pizza over traditional industrial oven cooking.. Another cooking style is "Alla Bolognese", which is a cooking style that originated in the Bologna district, where a meat sauce with a vegetable and tomato base is cooked for a few hours. The traditional version is a mix of meats, with tomato sauce, onions, carrots, and celery.

Italy has vigorously transformed the Australian cuisine culture throughout the years. Before Italians came, Australia had very little food supply. Australians have embraced Italian cuisine ever since they migrated to Australia in the 1850's. Italians introduced olive oil, olives, spaghetti, pizza, pasta, cappuccinos, salads, wines and more more food items when migrating to Australia. Spices and herbs originated from Italy have made a immense impact on how Australians season and prepare their foods. These include; oregano, rosemary, thyme, Parsley, basil, sage and many more. Salt is not a popular choice of seasoning as other spices are often used instead. In Australian cuisine, salt is put on almost everything. Dieting is something the Italian culture normally don’t take part in Australia did not adapt Italy’s views on dieting as we are often presented with dieting companies trying to help lose weight or gain muscle.

One example of a modern Utensil used when creating Italian dishes is a pasta machine. The stainless steel, hand-cranked pasta machine enables chefs to produce homemade pasta. These are cinched to the edge of a table or counter, and an assortment of sizes and shapes of pasta are rolled out and cut into various attachments. Another Utensil used by both Australian and Italian chefs is a Mezzaluna. This moon--shaped knife is used to cut herbs, vegetables and primarily pizza.

The chosen recipe is the Basic Spaghetti Cabonara. this recipe is already quite healthy but adjustments can be made to ensure all food groups are incorporated. There is no fruit included in this recipe but it vital if following the set guidelines. Not many fruits can be delicious with the cabonara meaning it can be substituted elsewhere such as a smoothie.
