Global Professional Learning Networks by Chef Carrie Snyder-Renfro

This is a global collaboration event that all learners are invited to participate in. As part of the 21st century world of collaboration, creativity and problem solving we must teach and learn from each other in many contexts such as video, written, social media and much more. The driving question is how do you build your learning network? How do you connect to others? How do you learn from others? What kinds of online learning platforms do you utilize like Edmodo, Google, Coursera? How do you gather this information to develop your network? Feel free to write, share photos, links and anything else that will help you build your learning network. Identify yourself in the title post as young learner or adult learner.

Voxer is another great way to chat and learn from one another. Through this walkie talkie like social media tool, educators are able to stay connected with others in their own time. Voxer allows for voice, text and video messages to be shared amongst groups or one to one conversations.
One great event that takes place twice a year on Voxer is @edcampvoice https://twitter.com/EdCampVoice
It's basically an "EdCamp" with various topics being shared through different voxer groups that are established by the organizing team. The most beneficial part of this event to me is that these voxer groups do not necessarily end when the event itself ends, but can continue throughout the year as my favorite Voxer group did last year on Growth Mindset! #growthmindsetedu

My first experience when I started to truly begin building my PLN was a face to face experience at EdCamp Awesome with my eduhero Jaime Donally! Through face to face experiences and opportunities to connect and collaborate with others I find that the relationships and conversations had are most powerful.
Taking a risk to share learning experiences face to face is a step out of our comfort zones but can be so motivating to know that you are sharing and empowering others to follow you in trying new things.
To me the most powerful think about these face to face events is the relationship factor and the connections that we are able to make with one another. When you "see" these face to face folks on social media afterwards, you almost feel as though you know those folks and it's so cool!

You get to select facial features, hairstyles and color, etc.. and your clothing. You then place and size your avatar live at your current location. There is the option to put a short audio with your avatar which I think is the best part. You can see mine in action on the Design Your Slide Challenge, currently slide 10 (that could change). Have fun!
