Good and evil co-exists with one another, making it more difficult to define these terms. Moreover, our mindset and behavior tend to be affected by external factors such as religion, culture, geographical location, etc. Growing up as a Catholic, I was taught that by following and proclaiming the word of God, I am spreading goodness, and therefore being a good individual. As we can see, the teachings of the Church clash with most of the societal and moral issues we currently have. For example, being in a conservative country with Christians comprising most of the population, topics regarding divorce, sexual orientation, sexual education, and other controversial issues remain taboo in the Philippines. I myself believe that we must follow the 10 Commandments. However, my point is, who am I or who are we to blame those people? Why quickly judge them and label them evil without knowing their reasons and stories? Although we can personally distinguish good and evil through our religious and moral beliefs, we cannot really grasp what is good or evil as it is subjective and intangible. Thus, I conclude that only God can identify which is which and judge us. Our conscience and morals guide us to recognize if we are doing the right or wrong thing. But I realize for the past years that only God knows what is good and what is evil. People are only having their judgement to things on their own or with the guidance of the Word of the Lord.
