Because lunch is not technically a “job related” expense, using the card without permission could lead to problems and could even cause you to lose your job. I understand that this is a very difficult dilemma for you, but you must understand that pursuing a relationship with another coworker will not be an ethical decision. You would be breaking the company’s code of ethics and policy, you will be distracted from work, and if one decides to leave the company then the other will be saddened and will cause many problems for both of you. I believe it’s best to just be work buddies and pursue a relationship with another partner outside the company.

It is wrong to ask a friend to do that. Saying “no” is not unsympathetic in this situation, and there are plenty of alternatives. What you can do, is if it becomes a recurring problem, is to subtly give Sue some advice on how to better manage her time so that she can show up to work on time and not have to ask you to lie on her time stamp.

They can also offer help to her, to where she could maybe balance her life better where she can make it to work on time.
