         <description><![CDATA[<p>The following portfolio reflects on the knowledge, experiences, and professional growth I have gained throughout the fourth semesters in the Early Childhood Education program. I chose this program because I have always been very passionate about working with young children and supporting their development through meaningful, play-based learning experiences. </p><p>During my college, I completed my two placements that helped me build confidence and practical skills which help me to becoming a meaningful educator in children's life. In my first semester, I was introduced to the basics of child development, importance of observation and their nature which I applied during my placement at Arbour Glen Day Nursery. In my first placement at Arbour Glen Day Nursery, I gained hands-on experience and professional skills by dealing with children, using teaching strategies, planning activities based on their interests and supporting their social, emotional, and cognitive growth. In my third semester while also working as a supply educator at Arbour Glen Day Nursery and completed my second placement at Northbrae YMCA Childcare, which has given me additional opportunities to interact with different age groups (3-5 Years) and educators.</p><p>For fourth semester, I chose the PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition) project instead of a placement. I am currently working as a supply educator at both Arbour Glen Day Nursery and London Bridge Childcare Services.</p><p>The artifacts in the padlet shows the skills I have acquired from my first semester to my fourth semester, including importance of health and safety, documentation, creating inclusive environments, understanding child development, and building positive relationships with children and families. Each artifact highlights my growth, commitment, and readiness to enter the field of Early Childhood Education as a professional and skilled educator.</p><p>Anju KC</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

Through assignments such as self-efficacy, science of babies, brain development, Piaget, Vygotsky, Attachment,case study and work task #4, all assignment showed my capacity to connect theories into practice and hands-on experience. These artifacts fit these sections as the assignment is aligned with the child development course and these artifacts also highlights the knowledge and skills that I gained from the child development course. These assignments reflects my learning, showing my belief that each child develops at their own way and speed and my role as an educator is to guide, support and create inclusive environment that encourage healthy, emotional, social, cognitive and physical growth.</p>]]></description>

A WHMIS certificate helps me to safely handle, store and understand hazardous materials to protect children and staff in the workplace. Through my Loris Malaguzzi group presentation, I gained lots of knowledge about the Reggio Emilia Approach which increase my understanding of the image of the child, the role of the environment, and the importance of collaboration in learning. My Op-Ed assignment allowed me to research about the ongoing situation in the early childhood education field and to express my own professional opinions on current issues in the field.  Through my technology research paper assignment , I learned the importance of technology use in children's personal, social and academic lives. Through the reimagining education assignment, I learned that I should be fair with every child in the classroom by feeling them heard and included. All these artifacts shows my capacity to develop new ideas, think critically, and apply research into practice. As an educator, I believe continuous learning is essential for providing high-quality education and staying connected to the every needs of the children, families and the profession. </p>]]></description>
