1. Mind Map: Create your own mind map around the theme of your choice
2. Planning: Create at least two thumbnail sketches for each idea. Make sure your compositions are balanced and related to each other in some way.
3. Have resources out at all times -- your sketches are great but do not count as resources :)
4. You will create a triptych (three part artwork) that features three contour drawings that are related in some way.
5. You should use VARIATION in your line. 
6. That’s it! I don’t want to give too many requirements as I want to leave lots of room for you to be creative. 

1. Research: Screenshot at least 5 linocuts that you like. You can search instagram, tiktok, pinterest, etc. Be sure that the artists name/handle is visible. They do NOT need to be artworks you want to replicate... just art you honestly really like! 
2. Resources: Start gathering image resources to create a great drawing. (A great print starts with a great drawing). Put those resources into a Google Doc and email them to me: bookers@nostoschools.org
3. Thumbnails: While drawing from resources, create at least 2 different thumbnail sketches for your idea. Show them to your peers. 
4. Draft: Choose your favorite/best to turn into a detailed draft. Be sure your draft is the exact size of the printing block you will be using. 
5. Critique: Show your draft to your peers. Give and take feedback. This is your last chance to make important changes.
6. Transfer: We will then transfer the image to your block. We will stain it with India ink, you will mark which areas to carve (with "x" for example), and you will get carving!

5. Add additional color to a print with watercolor (or similar colored media)
6. Embellish a print in anyway you see fit (adding collage, sew on it, paint on it, draw on it
7. You will turn in your best print from each task above, (totaling 6 prints). 

1. Pencils only. No writing, no miming! Drawing with non-dominant hand only.
2. Table 1, 2, and 3 are teams.
3. I will write the word on the board (while non-drawers close their eyes)
4. You get ONE minute to draw. Whoever guesses first ends that round and gets a point. First to 10 wins!
5. Pass the big paper to the next table-mate and continue.

Without my help, you will:

• Paint a flat square of color

• Blend from one color to the lighter version of that color (tinting)

• Blend from one color to the darker version of that color (shading)

• Blend two colors together

• For this project, you will re-create the album art for a favorite album, OR you will create album art for a favorite playlist. 

• Your album art should communicate the meaning, message, and mood of the album.

• Your artwork should showcase excellent craftsmanship, creativity, and clarity of message. You can use any media or imagery to create your artwork. 

• When you are done, you will ask two people what musical artist or genre they think your album art is for/about (if you were clear with your album art, they should be able to guess at least the genre and/or time period). 

And.. as always... 

1. Brainstorm/Mindmap. As yourself these questions: 

   1. What are three adjectives/feelings that come to mind when thinking about or listening to the music? (basically, what is the "mood" of the album)?Examples: Chaos, pain, calm, peace, angst, fear, sadness, love, breakup, etc. How can you evoke those feelings in your artwork?

   2. What is the album about? 

   3. What is the music genre? What is the time period it was made?

   4. What imagery, colors, shapes, textures come to mind when listening to the music? Example: Scratchy lines, darkness, smooth textures, bright happy colors, trees, a pool, outer space... it could be anything!

   1. A note on "finished" artwork...

   • Intention/Completion: All of your artistic choices should appear to be intentional. I have veto power over what is considered intentional -- as well as what is considered finished -- and may ask you to re-do certain sections if it looks haphazard, sloppy, or unfinished. You are in an upper level art class and I do not think that is unreasonable. 

   • Risk: You are also graded on risk. Did you choose the easiest possible thing to do? Or did you push yourself to try something new or different.

• You will be turning in at least 2 completed Artist Trading Cards

• Every additional, well made, well crafted and creative card gets you an additional 5 points (each required card is 10).

• You should put your name, date, and title of the card (if you can think of one)

• At the end, you can trade with classmates , only if you want to :)

Order of Operations:

3. You have 10 minutes to add anything to your card

4. You will then pass your card to the person to your right, who will also have 10 minutes to add to it

5. You will do this one more time

6. You will get YOUR card back. You have 10 minutes to finish it how you'd like

7. You do one more card, completely on your own.
