On February 20th, 2009 in Wampum, Pennsylvania Kenzie Houk (26 years old and 8 months pregnant) was found on her bed with a bullet through her head. The main suspect was Jordan Brown (11 years old). A possible motive would be because he was angered by his waiting of a new sibling and grew jealous about the attention Ms. Houk's daughters received. However, it's not confirmed.

- Jordan's defense argues that there are no witnesses to connect him to the crime
- Victim's oldest daughter (7 years old), she said she hear a loud boom before leaving for school with Jordan (Prosecutor are relying on that statement)
- However, she is unreliable because she didn't say she heard a "boom" the first two times police interrogated her. It wasn't until the third round of question that she told them about the noise. (Jordan's attorneys say)
- The noise of a 20-gauge young shotgun (Chris Brown that purchased for hunting) that state police believe is the weapon responsible for Houk's death (Prosecutors said)
- "There are no signs of forced entry," Bongivengo added. "No signs of a robber or burglar."
- Police found gunshot residue on Jordan's shirt. A state trooper testified that the gun smelled like it had been freshly fired. His defense team argues that many of Jordan's shirts and guns had residue because he frequently hunted with his father.
- Police said they discovered a blanket covering the gun with a quarter-sized hole burned into it.

Reflect on Incarceration of Children

I think that cases involving children as defendants be handled by able to give them a second chance (depending on the person and crime) and able to allow them to help them. In a CNN article about the Jordan Brown Case, a quote from Laurence Steinberg of Temple University that explained why juveniles lack control stood out to me lack control. "The teenage brain is like a car with a good accelerator but a weak brake, with powerful impulses under poor control, the likely result is a crash.". It stood out to me because I believe it's true and it's a great quote for people need to understand the incarceration of children.

I believe that when a child commits a crime, they need help. A child is still developing, so to rotten in jail would be almost hurting the child than to punish them.
I agree with the current rules and regulation regulations regarding the incarceration of children. It's simple and fair, then having the right an attorney is great. Plus, they're able to expunge their juvenile records is fair depends on the person and crime.

i think that the case was unfair and that it was rushed. The court and the family of Houk just wanted closure, and Jordan had the most evidence. However, I believe if the police investigate more, he wouldn't be in prison.

I'm not satisfied with the outcome. The fact Jordan Brown, a 11 year old child, was sentenced for 7 years who is innocent is unacceptable. Its unfair that his evidence that didn't help him and didn't get enough time to defend himself.

I think aspects of the case were handled well was the evidence. They were believable and make sense. However, if something happened differently, Jordan wouldn't had served 7 years of prison. To prevent that, I think the police or such should've had investigate more and more thoroughly.
