         <description><![CDATA[<p>NetChoice LLC V Paxton</p><p><br></p><p>The first amendment states that congress can't make a law that favors a religion.</p><p>The company NetChoice sued the Attorney General of Texas Paxton, because the company believed that the attorney general violated their First Amendment right because they prohibited some of their free speech because they were inciting criminal activity. The court ruled in favor of the Attorney General of Texas. This set a precedent of corporations, and more specifically social media have less freedom of speech</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>United States v Miller</p><p><br></p><p>The Second amendment can't infringe on a persons right to bear arms.</p><p>Miller was transporting a sawed-off double barrel 12 gauge shotgun across the state border. He argued that his Second Amendment right was violated because they arrested him. The Supreme Court ruled that he didn't hold the right to carry a sawed-off double barrel 12 gauge shotgun because it was not related to the preservation of a well-regulated militia. The Supreme Court was 8 - 1.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Engblom v Carey</p><p><br></p><p>The third amendment states that no soldier during peace time can force housing in a person's house.</p><p>Engblom v Carey was a supreme court case that upheld the rights of the third amendment. correctional officers were evicted from their room in the prison and had temporarily given the room to the national guard. </p>]]></description>

This court case set a precedent against illegal searches. The Supreme Court ruled 6-4.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Miranda v Arizona</p><p><br></p><p>The fifth amendment right gives people the right to a jury trial and  self-incrimination.</p><p>Ernesto Miranda was arrested and interrogated about a kidnapping and rape. After being interrogated for two hours Ernesto Miranda signed a paper stating that he did do the crime. Afterwards the trial Ernesto Miranda was found guilty. The supreme court on a 5-4 vote decided that his fifth amendment rights were violated because the Police officers did not tell him he had the right to counsel.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Gideon V Wainwright</p><p><br></p><p>The sixth amendment right gives people the right to a fast and public trial and an impartial jury.</p><p>Gideon V Wainwright was a court case in Florida in which a man named Clarence Earl Gideon was arrested. When it came time to go to court he asked for a court appointed attorney was denied. When the trial went to the supreme court the justices ruled unanimous for Gideon.</p>]]></description>

After applying to get the apartment, she was denied. The supreme court ruled unanimously that any person can ask for a jury for civil actions.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Judson v McMillian</p><p><br></p><p>The eighth amendment give people protection from excessive fines or cruel and unusual punishments.</p><p>A Louisiana man called Keith Hudson was arrested and put in prison. While in prison he was beaten by Marvin Woods and Jack McMillian two prison guards. The supreme court ruled in a 7-2 towards Keith Hudson, claiming that even though their was no significant injury doesn't mean his eighth amendment rights weren't violated</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Griswold v Connecticut</p><p><br></p><p>The ninth amendment right give people the right to vote, privacy, and the right to make decisions about their own body.</p><p>Estelle Griswold was arrested and convicted of violating a law that banned the use of any drug, medical device to further contraception</p><p>because they had opened a birth control clinic in New Haven. In a  7-2 ruling by the Supreme court the court decided that the Ninth amendment right that created the right to privacy was violated by this law causing it to be illegal.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Martin v Hunter's Lessee</p><p><br></p><p>The tenth amendment gives power that isn't specified by the federal government or withheld from the state are given to their states or to the people.</p><p>Denny Martin a British man inherited land from his uncle, later that year Virginia legislature took away his land and gave it to the state of Virginia. in a unanimous decision the court ruled in favor of Denny Martin claiming that states and the national government were not equal sovereigns, and that any state law could not supersede federal law.  </p>]]></description>
