The city of New Orleans was completely destroyed and frustration mounted as it took two days to fully start a relief effort. Food and water ran low and conditions around the city were unsanitary. As networks began to broadcast scenes from the devastated city many noticed that the vast majority of the victims were African Americans and poor people which led to George W. Bush getting criticized for what perceived as their slow response to the disaster.
