A small group of teenagers rebelled both culturally and politically and since there wasn't much they could do due to their age their way of rebelling included listening to american music, growing their hair long, and graduating to sabotage.

The Hitler youth

This youth was created in 1922 first known as the Youth League of the Nazi party. It was then renamed and now known as "Hitlerjugend" or Hitler Youth, this league was made up of German boys ages ranging from 14-18 a couple of years later another group was made by this time composed of girls. The Hitler youth was made up of eight million members making it the biggest youth group in the world.This group was initially focused with regular activities such as camping,sports or games but eventually was becoming more focused on training these boys for combat.

Daring ways they rebelled

These groups would rebel which is dangerous enough by making sure to gather the leaflets dropped from planes before the Nazis snatched them up; they would organize leaflet drops in nearby towns so the local police wouldn’t recognize them. But they would take an extra step and risk themselves by shielding German deserters and escaped concentration and labor camp prisoners, and supplying adult resistance groups with explosives.

Born in 1924 in Cologne and was going to be part of the League of German Girls but instead she rebelled and she co-founded Cologne’s Edelweiss Pirates. She then led the Pirates’ leaflet drop from the top of Cologne’s train station. She was jailed for nine months at Brauweiler, where the Gestapo beat her and once threw her down the stairs, breaking her arm.

The silence upon the pirates

Why hasn't much been heard about the pirates if they were a league of teens who were brave enough to protest against Hitler. Well in 1947 sent one young woman to prison for five months for ‘refusal to work’. The young became enemies of the new order too. This would include the political opponents of the Nazis that had been either forced into exile, murdered or hid their politics.

Hitler created two groups one made of girls and one made up of boys thus leading the pirates to include both(A form to protest)

About 5,000 Edelweiss Pirates are thought to have protested against the Nazi's participating in multiple types of violent and nonviolent resistance. While their work couldn't do much in those times after being silenced they took a stand and did what most people were afraid to do. And for that the Edelweiss pirates are recognized for their bravery
