By having conversations that aren't easy to speak about, or that are presented just from ones appearance are intricate to building relationships, trust, and understanding. I tell my students when we're in a circle, it's like a huddle in a game. We may agree or disagree, but we don't leave the huddle until we have an understanding.

When the adult leading the circle is able to be honest, speak to the students like they aren’t babies, and speaks from the heart (taking a chance), they model vulnerability. Though it may be difficult, especially for our students to practice vulnerability, it is an important part of being courageous. It’s part of having a growth mindset, being brave enough to take risks in class for example, and many other benefits.
