What I think:
Adverse Effects:

1. habitat degradation

2. water pollution caused by nets and other things

3. dying of organisms due to bycatch
We can make it sustainable by banning those methods that harm the environment. We can implement the measurement range of allowable size of fish to catch.

What my partner thinks:
Adverse effect of commercial fishing
1. Overfishing- the over demand of the seafood will result to more acquisition of supply
2. There are commercial fishing operations that Focus on quantity rather than quality. This can hurt the other populations in the ecosystem as the bycatch can get unnecessarily killed or injured in the process.
3. Habitat Damage- unrefined fishing methods can also damage habitats which can then impact the marine species in it significantly.
We could also apply the concept of tagabanua people- Tagbanuas fish for specific species only during certain times of the year, determined by tides and the moon, allowing fish stocks to replenish themselves. They set aside certain areas, such as coral reefs, as protected spots in which fishing is prohibited. When they do fish, these traditional fishers primarily use hook-and-line methods, catching only what they need to feed themselves and their communities.

What we want to share:
The adverse effects of commercial fishing would be habitat degradation that can impact the marine species, water pollution cause by the things used for the method, killing of organisms through bycatch, and overfishing from high demand of supply.

We can implement the measurement range of allowable size of fish to catch.
