(Introduction) Blooms Taxonomy is an attempt to categorize levels of understanding to aid educators developed in the mid twentieth century (Bloom, Engelhart, Furst, Hill, Krathwohl, 1956). The taxonomy was revised in 2001 with the rearranging of the last two levels but there is differing opinions on the revision (Anderson, Krathwohl, 2001). This assignment will be utilizing the revised taxonomy in the formation of learning objectives for a Genetics course, as well as a summary of each domain. 

(knowledge) The foundational level of Bloom’s Taxonomy is knowledge (table). This domain represents a novice learner’s first contact with terminology, specific facts, classifications and generalizations of the content (___). This is the wellspring from which all further understanding builds from, so while this domain is simplistic it is also critical. 

(Comprehension) The second domain is comprehension (table). This domain represents a learner becoming adept beginning to compare, interpret and surmise concepts (___). At this level the learner has internalized rote memorization and using facts to build bigger concepts. 

(application) The third domain is application (table). This domain represents a learner becoming adept with the information and begins to apply it for problem solving (___). At this stage a learner can use previous knowledge and apply the information in new situations. 

(analysis) The fourth domain is analysis (table). This domain represents a learner breaking down information into its elements and understanding their relationships (__). At this stage a learner seeks out new information to support relationships and generalizations. 

(synthesis) The fifth domain is synthesis (table). This domain represents a learner demonstrating expertise over content through recombining elements purposefully to create something new (__). At this stage of understanding the learner has a grasp of abstract relations between elements of the content. 

(evaluation) The final domain of the revised taxonomy is evaluation (table). This domain represents the learners mastery over the content and ability to defend judgments with internal and external evidence (__). Upon reaching this point, the learner has achieved content mastery. While this is the highest domain, it is still the goal for learners across all levels of content including introductory courses.
