Most hydrocarbons found on Earth occur naturally in crude oil. This is from decomposed organic matter providing a huge amount of carbon and hydrogen. After extracting and processing the energy source , one use for hydrocarbon is a combustible fuel source. Following the processing, hydrocarbons come in different forms such as

  • petroleum
  • methane
  • paraffin
  • bitumen
  • benzene
Raw materials for certain dyes, pesticides, plastics and other products, is another use for hydrocarbons.
