*Question 1*
Why did Phillip and the people of curacao fear for their own safety even though the major events of WW2 where taking place in Europe and the south pacific?
* Answer for Question 1*
They were afraid of being shot or blown-up. The sailors were afraid of being torpedoed when they sailed to send supplies to the other countries.
*Question 2*
Why were the islands of Aruba and Curcao in potential danger of German attack?
*Answer for Question 2*
They where in danger because they where trying to send out oil and actually had an oil refinery that Phillips dad worked at.
*Question 3*
On the day of the u-boat sighting, what actions revealed that Phillip was not as worried about his safety as his mother?
*Answer to Question 3*
On page 14erribly excited. War was something I'd heard a lot about, but had never seen. The whole world was at war, and now it had come to us in t it states; I was not frightened, just the warm, blue Caribbean. The first thing that my mother said was, "Phillip, the enemy has finally attacked the island, and there will be no school today. But you must stay near home. Do you understand?" I nodded, but I couldn't imagine that a shell from an enemy submarine would pick me out from all the buildings, or hit me if I was standing on the famous pontoon bridge or among the ships way back in the Schottegat or along St. Anna Bay.
*Question 4*
How did Phillips parents disagree about living in curacao?
*Answer to Question 4*
Phillips mom want to go back to Virginia but his dad wanted to stay in curacao because he knew that the u-boats where out and wanted the to be safe.
*Question 5*
Why did Mrs. Enright decide to leave curacao with Phillip? Do you think that they really had to leave, or that she was looking for an excuse to leave?
*Answer to Question 5*
Mrs. Enright decided to leave because she "thought" it was safer to leave. I do think she was looking for an excuse because in the beginning i recall she didn't like curacao.
*Question 6*
Why didn't Phillip want to leave curacao?
*Answer to Question 6*
Phillip didn't want to leave because he knew about the u-boats and wanted to stay with his father.
