Through my two ESOl classes, I have learned so much. Every ELL student is different and may not be on the same level as other ELL students in your classroom. It is important to recognize their English proficiency level so you can then differentiate lessons accordingly. I realized during these past years that many teachers push English learners to the side and don't put forth the effort. It's nice to not only see what to do but also what not to do in your classrooms. I have also learned the importance of the SIOP model. There are many different ways I can implement this in my future lessons to help English Learners be sucessful.

As an ESOl endorsed teacher, I want to continue to learn more about the different cultures around the world so I can then implement them into my lessons. I would love to also learn even more strategies to support my ESOL students in my future classrooms.

I wish that there was a brief introduction about the SIOP model in 4482. I think that all of us could learn more about the model itself and it would further help my understanding if it was talked about in my previous ESOL class. Also, having more practice with the SIOP model and how to implement that into our lessons would be beneficial. I have never heard about the SIOP model before this class so I believe that doing a lesson plan as a whole class in the beginning of the semester would help a lot.

Getting to know my students and their families would be the first step into advocating for them. I never want my English learners to feel like an outsider or not confident in my classroom. So, I will learn about their cultures and implement that into my lessons so they can feel comfortable. Also, I will educate other teachers so they can advocate for them as well.
