Every ELL student is different and may not be on the same level as other ELL students in your classroom. It is important to  recognize their English proficiency level so you can then differentiate lessons accordingly. I realized during these past years that many teachers push English learners to the side and don't put forth the effort. It's nice to not only see what to do but also what not to do in your classrooms. I have also learned the importance of the SIOP model. I think that all of us could learn more about the model itself and it would further help my understanding if it was talked about in my previous ESOL class. Also, having more practice with the SIOP model and how to implement that into our lessons would be beneficial. I never want my English learners to feel like an outsider or not confident in my classroom. So, I will learn about their cultures and implement that into my lessons so they can feel comfortable.
