With changes in life-style aspirations come a rapidly declining birth rate in Hong Kong, resulting in an aging population. The aging population threatens Hong Kong's productivity as there is an overall decline in the number of individuals entering the work force. Additionally, this increases the demand for elderly homes and other infrastructures to support the elderly population. With this comes additional costs that cuts government spending on other welfare programs targetting the the younger generation. Furtheremore, the limited work force threatens the economy, which can in return make Hong Kong a less desirable investment location.

Rapid technological advancement has the potential to ease the issue caused by the aging pulation. Technology has the potential to improve urban spaces and infrastructures, making them more livable and suitable. This will in return create opportunities for younger people to start families.

In a global scale, aging population may not be a prior problem since there are still large number of undeveloped and developing areas. The most urgent problem will be the rapid declining birth rate, because this problem also has negative impact on other problems. Less child born causes less labor in the future, it will get harder for governments to take care the large number of elders. Increased social mobility reflects a unstable social structure at current, may potentially cause a larger rich-poor gap. Changing lifestyle aspirations may be the reason but not the only reason of why birth rate is rapidly declining, and this is the only aspect that may be improved by technology.
In fact providing higher income for young families and more hope in life could make the lifestyle aspiration less desperate therefore they may be more willing to have children, technology offers new industries and new opportunity though some occupations are being replaced by AI in real world. Providing a job and other opportunities in future metaverse offers extra income and chances of changing life.

1. Aging Population - Due to the increasing aging population and increased life expectancy, it causes a lack of labour force due to unemployment in their later years. In order to make up for that, there is a higher expectation for the younger generation to take up their roles. The scale of this issue is large, especially in more developed countries, due to better health care, environment, etc. In terms of technology, there could be greater advances in the medical sector, as well as automation. This could lead to greater healthcare however, on the other hand, with better automation, this could decrease the demand for labour. Technology can also be applied for resources such as food, artificial food can make up for the increased demand as well.

2. Rapidly Declining birth rate - One of the factors for this would be the aspiring lifestyles of the modern families, as to sustain an average family, it is required for both parents to work, this would cause problem for the children growing up due to lack of care. For parents that are struggling to make ends meet, this would be a burden.

3. Increased social mobility - Education is one of the most important factors in regards to social mobility, as usually having a higher education would lead to better futures. In regards to technology, people now have a higher accessibility to knowledge/education due to the use of the IOT.

4. Change life-style aspirations - For high rise high density cities, there would be a congregation of people of high income inequality, and naturally would lead to people comparing themselves against others. Especially when the use of social media is apparent in people's lifestyles. This would be a major problem as people would be stressed out and burn out trying to create the ideal lifestyle by becoming another person.

1. Ageing population
Being less technologically literate, senior citizens have lower competitiveness in the job market and therefore contribute less to the society. Technology helps them learn new skills and contribute to society
2. Decline of birth rate
This has more to do with the cost of housing and raising children as well as cultural influences and less with technology, so this is an aspect with which technology can help least.
3. Increased social mobility
We agreed that this is not a problem but an opportunity for those born in poorer families to get out of inter-generational poverty. Technology helps in the sense that it provides the less privileged kids with learning opportunities.
4. Change of lifestyle aspirations
Enormous expectations and social norms placed on young people, in addition to technology inspiring people to live more idealized lives, makes people want more freedom and space to grow their careers than ever instead of settling in more traditional familial roles.

Aging population: increasing demand in resources but not contributing to the economy, increase economic burden of the government in subsidies and health care. Technology can help by increasing the efficiency of taking care of them, relieving the burden of the working class (eg. their kids).
Rapidly declining birth rate: not enough productivity. Technology can help encourage in vitro fertilisation and additional testing for genetic diseases.
Increased social mobility: as more opportunities arise, there will be more people migrating to areas with higher social class such as from rural areas to places closer to the city. They become detached from their hometown. Technology can help create efficient transport connections in those rural areas and encourage online communication.
Changing lifestyle aspirations: people aspire higher living standards, they become more materialistic and create more waste. Technology can create sustainable energy and anti-pollution measures.

1. Aging population (large scale): Robotic healthcare or online "brain games" to help elderly to stay mentally sharp.
2. Rapidly declining birth rate (large scale in developed countries): test tube baby, scientific and technological advances help lower fertility by stimulating the growth of the marginal cost of children and reducing the marginal benefit of children.
3. Social mobility (large): Technology offers more social mobility than other industries like medicine and law with more routes to enter the industry and lower costs for qualifications and skills
4. Changing lifestyle (small): technology has enhanced our lives for the better. The best part is that it is ever-evolving by facilitating more advanced features. For instance, we have come far from traditional audio calls to instant messaging and facetime
